Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Jared Sammarco. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Jared, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. What do you think it takes to be successful?
I once heard a saying that said “Have you ever held your breath underwater? When you start to run out of air you will do anything to get your head above water. When you want success as bad as you want a breath of air then you will truly be successful.” What I gathered from that is that in order to be successful you have to do things sometimes that others don’t want to do like working while all of your friends are going out, or working when your friends are all taking trips. Going to work when you are tired, when it is raining out, going to work when you just don’t feel like working. If you do things that aren’t always comfortable it will help you be comfortable later on.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
I am a Technical Engineer by trade with a background in Kinesiology. Growing up my family put me in beauty pageants (winner of the prettiest baby of Florida) Fast forward a couple years and I was doing modeling for Page Parks and for other companies like Wheaties, and a few other designer brands. When I went off to school and became career orientated I took a break from the industry. I am an IT Engineer in the travel industry. When the pandemic was announced in 2020 it essentially put a halt on travel globally so most of us were furloughed until further notice. It was a combination of several things that ultimately lead me back to the photography/modeling industry. I started off just taking pictures with minimal editing and natural lighting. Now I do picture with lighting, video, and full retouching, and have had the opportunity to work with several celebrities, and leaders in the industry.
Any stories or insights that might help us understand how you’ve built such a strong reputation?
I think the biggest things that have helped launch my career are my no quit attitude, great communication, being understanding/empathetic, and just trying to be a generally good person. I think it is also imperative to always be modest and to continue learning and perfecting your craft and making it your own.

What’s worked well for you in terms of a source for new clients?
The best for me has been word of mouth from the people I have worked with. Social media has also played a crucial role.
