We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Jared Page. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Jared below.
Hi Jared, thanks for joining us today. One of our favorite things to hear about is stories around the nicest thing someone has done for someone else – what’s the nicest thing someone has ever done for you?
The kindest thing anyone has ever done for me was inviting me to dinner after doing a family photoshoot. I had the opportunity to take this family’s group photos because of a client of mine referred them to me which was a blessing. On the day of the shoot I walked in to a beautiful home and wonderful hospitality, which is something all photographers could ask for. As I started to setup my equipment, the mother and I had a conversation about school and how I became a photographer. It was surprising to share a conversation like that with clients because it’s always business first and socialize later. The family was very welcoming and was glad for me to be there. They made the process of capturing their photos so easy and comfortable that I remembered why I wanted to be a photographer in the first place. The whole experience of capturing memories for this family inspires me to have the same family dynamic like theirs someday. After the shoot, i began to put up my equipment and the family asked if I was hungry. I didn’t want to be in the way so i politely decline, but once I knew they were fixing soul food I quickly changed my mind. At that point, I felt appreciated because they didn’t have to do that at all. So I am grateful for that family for being nice and inviting me to dinner which was amazing by the way!
Jared, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
For those that don’t know me, my name is Jared Amar! I’m a young black creative from Washington DC specializing in visual art. I am apart of a creative collective based in the DMV called Dfrnt Hype Studios. My brand, Jared Amar Productions, offers film and digital photography, videography and graphic design. My greatest accomplishment would have to be working with artists in the music industry such as LB199X and OTYOUNGTAE. In the future, I plan to work with many creatives, artists and companies to either collaborate, direct or capture artistic projects.
For you, what’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative?
Besides the clients’ reaction to what you produced, I would say the feeling of executing a project that took a long time to finish. That’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative to me. Regardless of how big or small the project is or if it’s going to get likes or not. The feeling of getting it done is satisfying when time and dedication was the cost.
Is there a particular goal or mission driving your creative journey?
I started this journey of being a creative by being curious to what I potentially can create. I have always thought about it that way but the next step is to see how high I can get. I see myself having some directing or assisting position in a creative project. That’s my mission.
