We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Jared Cobb. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Jared below.
Jared, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. What’s been the most meaningful project you’ve worked on?
It sounds corny, but I really do believe that every wedding video I help produce is meaningful to both myself and the client. It’s amazing to be able to do a job that I’m passionate about doing, all while helping the clients capture one of the most important days of their lives. A wise DJ once said to me, “The video is ultimately going to shape their future memories of this event after so many years,” and that really stuck with me. The impact that the video we give them is going to have on their lives is really incredible when you think about it.

Jared, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
I’ve been a professional videographer for 10 years now, and I’ve been doing it full-time for almost 3. I’ve known since I was 10-years-old that this was the career I wanted, and it’s absolutely amazing that I’ve been able to turn it into my full-time profession!
I provide videography for weddings, commercials, business promotion, social media content, drone content– if you can think of it, I’ve helped produce it.
The biggest take away that I want people to have when they see my content is how much care and love went into it. I’m a firm believer of giving every project 100% of what you can do, especially when I’m working with a team of fellow creatives that rely on me to do well.

What’s a lesson you had to unlearn and what’s the backstory?
An important lesson in any field is, “I’ve learned all I need to know.” Regardless of what you’re pursuing, there will always be more information, new technology, and a hundred other things that you can improve your skills and knowledge on! It’s easy to get into a flow and think that you know everything about what you’re doing, but it’s important to realize that it’s never a bad time to learn something new about what you do.

What do you find most rewarding about being a creative?
For me, seeing the reactions of clients when they love the work is so rewarding. I think any artist will tell you that being recognized and appreciated for something that you put so much time into feels that way. It’s easy to look at art and think, “Oh, anyone could do that,” and not understand the amount of time and effort it takes to hone these skills in.
