We were lucky to catch up with Jarcelyn Batie recently and have shared our conversation below.
Jarcelyn, appreciate you joining us today. Let’s start with the story of your mission. What should we know?
Eight2Eight is an authentic Black owned-Woman owned wellness brand that expresses creativity through cultural storytelling.
Primarily focusing on skincare , our products are formulated with cruelty free and organic ingredients – making them safe and effective. Eight2Eight introduces an environment where self love meets quality products contributing to mental healing & skin improvement.
Most importantly, 828 represents Rebirth, Growth and Prosperity. Setting the example of what a raw but beautiful story looks like . Honoring humble beginnings while pushing the brand to its full potential of wealth and impact.
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
I was my own motivation. I disciplined myself first .I was diagnosed with PCOS in 2019 and it’s been a journey. I had to change my lifestyle . My skin was one of many ways that PCOS affected my body.
With my love for skincare and the usual
products not working for me , I decided to make the biggest decision of my life which was formulating my own chemical free products.
While investing in my business development, storytelling was a brilliant yet authentic tool that allowed me create meaningful content that will forever live on.
My brand is a story of culture and great skincare . I was able to build a foundation from the ground. Quality is most important. Ingredients, packaging are all carefully handpicked.
We’d really appreciate if you could talk to us about how you figured out the manufacturing process.
I had somewhat of an idea of how to formulate. I got started in my home . It took months to be able to sell to the public . Some products took a year. I knew I wanted to heal people . I had to perfect the labels , packaging and labels.
I have local vendors who have knowledge and specialize in herbs , organic oils , & butters . I’ve been able to network with talented people who could educate me on what to do. Meeting after meeting with different vendors and trying their ingredients , in order to get the best one to my liking . Hours of product formulation went into the recipes.
My biggest lesson was to not wait . For anything. Do everything ahead of time . Things can get overwhelming and any discrepancies can happen . With labels , ingredients, or anything business related.
Any insights you can share with us about how you built up your social media presence?
I was very authentic . That’s the best advice I can give . People love to see the real . Be yourself . Social media is a big step . You don’t have to necessarily show yourself but you have to make people believe in your product or service .
