We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Jaquita Rideaux a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Jaquita thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Getting that first client is always an exciting milestone. Can you talk to us about how you got your first customer who wasn’t a friend, family, or acquaintance?
The first time I secured a client outside of my immediate circle was an exciting moment, and it came through Facebook trucking groups. I had been putting in the groundwork for a while—networking, joining discussions, and offering advice whenever I could. One day, I posted about the services we offer, explaining how we could help carriers improve their operations and secure better loads.
I didn’t think much of it at the time, but a carrier reached out in response to that post. We started chatting, and after a few exchanges, they decided to give us a shot. That first official contract felt like a major milestone. I remember feeling a wave of excitement as everything came together—this was validation that all the hard work, late nights, and effort were starting to pay off. The feeling of landing that first client, completely outside of any personal connections, was a huge boost of confidence and really energized me to keep pushing forward.
It’s a moment that sticks with me because it showed me the power of putting myself out there and the value of social media for growing my business. That first dollar felt like the start of something much bigger, and it’s been a ride ever since!

Jaquita, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
I was introduced to the logistics industry through a friend who saw my work ethic and drive and encouraged me to explore it. That suggestion opened up new opportunities, and I quickly realized it was a space where I could thrive. I took the leap and began immersing myself in the logistics world, learning every aspect of the business, from freight brokerage to trucking operations.
At JRTC Logistics, we specialize in connecting carriers with the right loads and helping shippers find reliable transport solutions. We’re not just about moving freight; we’re about creating efficient, stress-free experiences for everyone involved. On top of that, we provide structure and support to our drivers, from setting up systems for credit and fuel card usage to offering contracts, bonuses, and team benefits like vacations. We strive to make sure both our clients and our team feel valued and empowered.
What sets us apart is our commitment to building real relationships, not just completing transactions. We prioritize communication, transparency, and reliability in everything we do. Our clients and partners know they can count on us for personalized service, where their needs are heard, and their success is our priority.
One of my proudest moments was securing our first carrier through a Facebook trucking group. It was a milestone that confirmed our hard work was paying off and that we were on the right path. This early success is a reflection of our commitment to excellence and the trust we’ve earned within the community.
At JRTC Logistics, we’re dedicated to long-term success—for both our clients and ourselves. We want potential clients to know that when they work with us, they’re getting more than just a service provider. They’re partnering with a team that genuinely cares about their business and is invested in helping them achieve their goals.

How did you put together the initial capital you needed to start your business?
When I started JRTC Logistics, I began as a dispatching company and, fortunately, didn’t need any outside funding to get things going. I focused on helping carriers and, as the business grew, the funds I made from those early dispatching services allowed me to reinvest in the company. It wasn’t about starting with a large sum of money, but rather, about making strategic moves and letting the business grow organically.
As I worked with more carriers and built a reputation for reliability and excellent service, I was able to expand into more areas of logistics. The revenue generated from those initial partnerships gave me the financial foundation to take the next step—whether it was hiring drivers, investing in technology, or adding more services like freight brokerage.
It’s been a journey of growth and reinvestment, and I’m proud of the fact that I was able to build JRTC Logistics from the ground up without needing to take on debt or seek outside capital. The business has been self-sustained, allowing us to grow at a steady pace while maintaining full control over our direction and vision.

Any insights you can share with us about how you built up your social media presence?
Building my audience on social media really came down to a mix of running targeted ads and joining trucking groups. The ads helped me get my services in front of the right people—carriers and shippers who were a great fit for JRTC Logistics. But beyond that, joining trucking groups gave me the opportunity to connect with people on a more personal level. I engaged in conversations, offered advice, and shared my experience, which built trust and credibility over time.
For those just starting out, my advice is to focus on consistency and value. Ads can help, but real growth comes from being present and providing useful content. Engage with your audience, show them you understand their challenges, and don’t hesitate to join industry-specific groups where you can both learn and contribute. It’s all about creating meaningful connections that eventually translate into business opportunities.
