We were lucky to catch up with Jaquan Fulton recently and have shared our conversation below.
Jaquan, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. What were some of the most unexpected problems you’ve faced in your career and how did you resolve those issues?
Most of the struggles I faced in the beginning came because of my age and me balancing keeping a job, building a career, and obtaining a degree. When I first enrolled in the Atlanta Partners Real Estate, I started my 2nd semester of my freshmen year in January of 2019 and balancing both loads of school work was vigorous. At the time, I was working at Chick Fil A on campus and my hours made it difficult for me to find time to do my real estate class, causing me to miss the 6-month time limit I had to complete the class. There was a 50$ fee I had to pay to get a 3-month extension, which led into the fall semester of my sophomore year. I finished my course and took the graduation course in August of that year but waited till January of 2019 to take my state certification test. I took this time so I could study for this exam because I’ve heard stories from my mother and others who had to take their test multiple times to pass. Unfortunately, after months of studying my first attempt, I failed the test by one question. A feeling of defeat motivated me to study hard on the sections that I missed and I went back two weeks and passed! Once I received my license I had a new problem: How can a 19-year-old get clients in an industry of professionals. These past three years I have been attempting to learn how to bridge the gap between my generation and the past when it comes to real estate as well as all industries.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
I am a licensed Georgia real estate agent. I have had my license since February 5th of 2019 and currently work Solid Source Realty. I specialize in putting my clients in the home, building, or investment property of their dreams. My top priorities are my client’s happiness and efficiently closing our deal. With my experience from working at real estate attorney’s office, I can offer my clients more insight on what’s happening behind the scenes during their transaction. I feel like our generation must continue to thrive in entrepreneurship and transition into higher business positions and that’s what I’m doing.
Any advice for growing your clientele? What’s been most effective for you?
My business has seen substantial growth as my media foot print has increased. I have learned that the more you keep yourself in people’s mind the greater exposure you will receive. In the beginning i thought posting once a week or when i felt the need was enough. After seeing my business not hit the milestones I knew it could reach i started investing more into my house tours and other forms of content including Tik Toks and Instagram Reels. Since I’ve been working on the quality of my content I’ve seen an increase in the clients that reach out to me.

How’d you build such a strong reputation within your market?
My consistency has earned me my spot in my market . Since getting my license at 19 years old I’ve came into a market that was predominantly ran by older adults and made my own ways of connecting with clients. In the beginning I relied on relevant memes and constant photoshoots. Recently i’ve gotten into house tours and popular Tik Tok sounds.
