Japhet , thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Did you always know you wanted to pursue a creative or artistic career? When did you first know?
He initially got Into recording after hearing a juice WRLD free style on a particular instrumental which caught his attention and he searched that same beat up and from there his first song was made and he just fell in love w music and recording from there. He had always played instruments from a young age but stopped at some point in his childhood
Japhet , love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
Japhet is a young and upcoming artist who has been writing and creating his own music for the past three years. Growing up, Japhet moved around quite a bit, from Nigeria to Atlanta to Calgary, and now currently residing in Texas. This allowed him to be well-versed in a variety of different musical expressions. Throughout his life, he always had a relationship with music, whether playing the piano or saxophone, singing in the choir at church, or recording his vocals at recording studios. He eventually put music on the back burner to do other things, he would eventually circle back to make this a career of his despite the odds being stacked against him. Japhet has been steadily gaining the attention of the industry; However, he only released four songs in the past three years, he did that to hone his skills before dropping constantly, and that is his plan for 2023, three out of those songs each have fifty-thousand views or streams respectively on all platforms. His most recent release, “Trynna call you mine,” features the well-known Winnipeg rapper/singer YSN Fab; this collab was the cosign that assisted him in taking his career to the next step; YSN Fab is an already established artist with 40 million+ streams on all platforms. “Trynna Call You Mine,” released December 10th, has already accumulated over seventy- thousand streams on Spotify and propelled Japhet to ten thousand monthly listeners. The song was featured on the website article “The Gauntlet” and was placed on “release radar” and “discover weekly” Spotify’s algorithmic playlists. He aims to bring momentum and consistency all the way through 2023
For you, what’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative?
The most rewarding aspect of being an artist is having a way to vent or put my thoughts and feelings into a mic for people to hear nd listen to. But nothing tops the supports reaching back and saying how much the songs mean to them and how it helped them in their personal lives it’s crazy to imagine making a song in your room to people around the world relating to it in their different ways
Let’s talk about resilience next – do you have a story you can share with us?
Just seeing a few friends pass away at a young age and trying to put my family and friends in a different position in life. That is what keeps me going the most
