Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Jão Fadário. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Alright, Jão thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Let’s kick things off with a hypothetical question – if it were up to you, what would you change about the school or education system to better prepare students for a more fulfilling life and career?
Ah, education – always a hot topic! If I were to spice up the education system, I’d introduce more practical skills alongside the usual curriculum. I mean, sure, Shakespeare is great, but can I balance a checkbook? Probably not the most relevant skill I picked up in school Remember that time when we were discussing quadratic equations for what felt like the hundredth time? Don’t get me wrong, math has its place, but it would’ve been awesome to dive into personal finance or coding. Real-world applications, you know? Imagine the head start we’d have had if we’d learned how to create a budget or build a simple website back then.
And don’t even get me started on career guidance. It’s like we were supposed to figure out our life’s purpose overnight. Some exposure to different industries and professions early on could’ve been a game-changer. Internships, perhaps? Remember that awkward career fair we went to? Yeah, that could use a makeover.
I believe in nurturing creativity too. Remember that art project that got buried under mountains of standardized tests? It’s like they wanted to squash any hint of originality. Incorporating more creative outlets in education would be a breath of fresh air.
Instead of just learning about historical events, what if we could step into the shoes of those who lived it? Interactive learning experiences that make history come alive—now that’s a class I’d sign up for! Learning by doing, not just memorizing dates and facts.
And hey, who says exams have to be all about regurgitating information? What if we had assessments that allowed us to showcase our problem-solving skills or creativity? It’s not about how well you can memorize a textbook, but how you apply that knowledge to real-world scenarios.
And remember those passionate teachers who went above and beyond? Let’s give them the tools and flexibility to inspire students, to tailor their approach to different learning styles. A little mentorship can go a long way.
Oh, and speaking of mentorship, how about connecting students with professionals in fields they’re interested in? Imagine having a mentor who could share insights, guide us through the ropes, and maybe even open doors to opportunities we didn’t know existed.
In the end, it’s about creating an education system that not only equips us with knowledge but also hones our critical thinking, problem-solving, and interpersonal skills. Because life isn’t a standardized test—it’s a series of dynamic challenges that require a versatile skill set. So, in a nutshell, let’s add some practical skills, spice up career guidance, and throw in a healthy dose of creativity. Our future selves would thank us.
A story about my past in schools: I remember in my times as a student, I passed several years studying a novel called “Os Lusíadas” (“The Lusíadas”), a poem novel from Luís de Camões, a portuguese poet, who wrote this epic novel to celebrate the Epic of Discoveries of the Sea Route to India in the XV Century. When I was 15, I had a professor who gave the entire book! God! Its big! It’s poetry, and he made us analise it all! We spend almost all the year studying that, as other clases were learning more things. I thought that was very unfair. A resume of the novel would be fine, as all students knew already the main plot.
Jão, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
Sure thing! So, here’s the lowdown on yours truly. My name is Jão, 42, and I love US! I’m the storyteller extraordinaire behind novels that whisk readers away into fantastical realms and tug at their heartstrings with every plot twist. The journey into the literary world wasn’t a casual stroll; it was a plunge into a realm of creativity and imagination, a decision to craft worlds that resonate deeply with readers. My first draft started long ago, and now, im celebrating this year a decade as writter, with 10 novels (divided in 3 sagas) and some short ones and already working on the next ones (as already started publishing the first chapters of the next novel).
But that’s not where it ends. I’m also the proud owner of Véu Encantado (Enchanted Veil), a magical realm in itself, a store in Instagram. It’s not just a store; it’s an extension of my creative spirit. At Véu Encantado, we don’t just produce handmade soy candles; we curate tangible, enchanting experiences. Our soy candles aren’t just sources of light; they’re carriers of magic, infusing spaces with a touch of the fantastical. I also produce balsams for massage, sprays, baths. Have crystals, pendants, and have some various services disposible to our customers. Me and my team look for the best for our clients.
What sets me apart isn’t just the ability to spin captivating tales or craft exquisite candles – it’s the seamless fusion of both worlds. My novels and Véu Encantado aren’t separate entities; they’re interconnected threads of the same narrative tapestry, creating a holistic experience for enthusiasts of the written word and aficionados of magical ambiance.
I’m dedicated to quality and authenticity in an era where mass production often overshadows craftsmanship. Every flicker of the flame in our candles/oils/essences/balsams tells a story, and every page of my novels is a testament to my passion for the craft.
What I’m most proud of is not just the novels or the candles, but the ability to create a world – an enchanting world where stories come alive, and candles hold whispers of magic. The novels transport readers, and the candles illuminate spaces, each enriching the other. It’s a synergy that goes beyond the realms of literature and retail – it’s an immersive experience that invites people to step into the enchanting worlds I’ve crafted.
Looking forward, the journey isn’t just about creating more novels or crafting more candles. It’s about expanding the boundaries of imagination, inviting others to partake in the magic, and building a community that celebrates the beauty of storytelling and the allure of enchantment. What tales will unfold next, and what scents will fill the air? The adventure continues, and I’m excited to see where the next chapter takes us.
We often hear about learning lessons – but just as important is unlearning lessons. Have you ever had to unlearn a lesson?
Ah, the art of unlearning—a skill as crucial as learning itself. One lesson I had to consciously let go of was the belief that perfection is the ultimate goal. Growing up, there was this unrelenting pursuit of flawlessness in everything I did, be it academics, creative endeavors, or personal achievements.
The backstory to this mindset is rooted in a combination of societal expectations and a deeply ingrained desire to meet standards that, in reality, were often unattainable. It’s like I was carrying this invisible burden of perfection on my shoulders, and any deviation from that ideal was met with a sense of failure.
The turning point came when I realized that perfection is not only an illusion but also a hindrance to growth and creativity. It stifles experimentation, hampers the learning process, and breeds fear of failure. I found myself hesitating to take risks or explore new avenues because of this ingrained need for flawlessness.
The real lesson was understanding that mistakes are not failures; they’re stepping stones to improvement. Embracing imperfection doesn’t mean settling for mediocrity—it means allowing room for growth, innovation, and the unexpected. It’s about the journey, not just the destination.
Unlearning the pursuit of perfection was a process that required conscious effort and self-compassion. It involved challenging the deep-seated beliefs that equated mistakes with inadequacy and realizing that, in the grand scheme of things, imperfections add character and richness to the tapestry of life.
Now, I celebrate the messy, imperfect moments as opportunities for learning and growth. It’s like lifting a weight off my shoulders and allowing myself the freedom to explore, create, and evolve without the constant pressure to meet an unattainable standard. It’s a lesson that continues to unfold, reminding me that the beauty of life lies in its imperfections.
I learned that when I had to give up about a store i had in 2011. It was my first time as Store Owner. I managed so much time, money and things were really going smoothly. I learned that when I had to give up about a store I had in 2011. It was my first time as Store Owner. I managed so much time, money and things were really going smoothly. unfortunately, a huge storm came and destroyed my store. I had insurance for the windows but it didn’t cover me for damage to the store, as there was 4 meters of water inside the store and it damaged everything inside. There were thousands of dollars in losses. Neither the city hall nor the building administration guaranteed the costs of the damage. So, I, like other owners, had to calculate the loss and in my case, which had only started a year, there was no way to bear such a loss. I was devastated and angry. For years I carried the guilt and frustration of not being able to succeed in the business. However, when presenting the store’s accounts to several accountants, everyone was unanimous: the store was already making a profit, something rare in the first year of activity, and the trend was towards great improvement. If that storm hadn’t come, everything could have been better. At least I learned from that and after all this time, I decided to return and reopen a business, this time virtually.
We’d really appreciate if you could talk to us about how you figured out the manufacturing process.
The journey began with a passion for creating sensory experiences, a desire to translate the enchantment found in my novels into tangible, everyday magic. Now, did I start with a vast knowledge of manufacturing? Not exactly.
In the early days, I had to roll up my sleeves and immerse myself in the world of candle making and massage oil formulation. It was a process of experimentation, trial, and error. I delved into research, learning about different waxes, scents, and the intricate art of blending oils. The process was a bit like crafting a novel – each element carefully chosen to create a harmonious and captivating composition.
As the vision for Véu Encantado (Enchanted Veil) crystallized, the challenge was finding the right partners to turn this vision into reality. First, my I sought out vendors who shared the same commitment to quality and craftsmanship. It was crucial to find partners who not only understood the technical aspects of manufacturing but also resonated with the essence of what we were trying to create – more than just candles and massage oils, but vessels of enchantment.
The lessons along the way have been plentiful. One of the key takeaways is the importance of collaboration. Building strong partnerships is not just about the transaction; it’s about shared values and a mutual passion for the craft. Communication is also Paramount – clearly articulating the vision and ensuring that every step of the manufacturing process aligns with the desired outcome.
Quality control emerged as a non-negotiable aspect. Consistency in the production of candles and massage oils is vital to maintaining the integrity of the brand. This meant fine-tuning processes, conducting rigorous testing, and being meticulous about sourcing materials.
Adaptability has been another crucial lesson. The world of manufacturing is dynamic, with evolving trends and technologies. Being open to innovation and staying nimble in response to market changes ensures that the products stay not just relevant but ahead of the curve.
And let’s not forget the magic of storytelling. Beyond the technicalities, infusing the manufacturing process with a narrative – each candle telling a story, each massage oil invoking a mood – adds that extra layer of enchantment. It’s not just about creating products; it’s about creating experiences.
So here we are, with candles that flicker with tales and massage oils that carry the essence of magic. The journey continues, each step a dance between creativity and craftsmanship. What’s next for our enchanted creations? The story unfolds, and I can’t wait to see where the next chapter takes us!
