We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Janze Taylor a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Janze, appreciate you joining us today. If you had a defining moment that you feel really changed the trajectory of your career, we’d love to hear the story and details.
There are actually two defining moments that come to mind in my life. In high school, I dreamt of becoming a Medical Doctor. In college, I realized that wasn’t the path for me. I changed my major and after graduating college, I worked in the field of Environmental Health & Safety. My first defining moment came in January 2008, after attending a New Years’ service in my church. The preacher’s message was Open Door. The pastor spoke specifically to my husband and me that this was our year of open door. That year, as the economy went into a recession, my company offered severance packages and after much discussion and praying, I took the package and went to nursing school.
Not only did I obtain my nursing degree, but I also obtained my Master’s in Nursing as a Family Nurse Practitioner. Working as a provider and having dealt with my own health issues, I began to focus on my health and wellness. My passion for wanting to see others healthy began my journey to entrepreneurship. The second defining moment came as I sat in a class, in 2021, to learn about how to start an IV Hydration Therapy business. This class not only gave me the basics to start my business, but it also gave me the feeling that I can do all things! Everything I do is a walk of faith, and I don’t take my assignments lightly.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers?
I’ve been a Nurse for over 10 years, 3 of those as a Family Nurse Practitioner. Coming from a small town in North Carolina, I’ve always had a love of service, to help people and positively impact those in my community. I officially began that journey in healthcare in 2009 when I became a full time nursing student. Going through nursing school with a family was tough! I had to balance being a wife, mom, and a full-time student. During nursing school, I began to suffer from gastrointestinal issues. As I focused on my healing, I began to focus on alternative methods for my health and wellness. This is how I first learned about IV Hydration therapy, and why I took the class in 2021 to learn about opening my IV therapy business. I now own and operate a health and wellness center, Embodi Hydration & Wellness, PLLC in Durham, NC. I currently offer IV Hydration and vitamin injections. IV Hydration is the infusion of vitamins and minerals via intravenous rate ensuring up to 100% absorption. This alternative method for receiving vitamins and minerals is good for anyone that can’t tolerate oral vitamins or suffers from gastrointestinal issues. My vitamin drips have many benefits such as relieving pain, anxiety, improving skin health, and boosting the immune system.
The decision to become a business owner was an easy decision. I’ve always been told I’m a natural leader. Although running a business is not all glitz and glam, I love it!
What’s a lesson you had to unlearn and what’s the backstory?
I had to unlearn that I had to put everyone first before I focused on myself. After I found out I had H-pylori, I made some drastic changes to my lifestyle. I knew that I had to put myself first!

If you could go back, would you choose the same profession, specialty, etc.?
Absolutely! I took nurse aide courses in high school and my career goal was to become a Medical Doctor. I changed my career path and later became a Nurse Practitioner. If I could go back, I would have become a nurse sooner. Nursing is my purpose in life, and I love what I do. I love building relationships and I love what I’m doing in my business.
