Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Jant Blur. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Jant, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Can you talk to us about how you learned to do what you do?
im really into what i do — it keeps me up night and day. thinking of different ways to get at it, to understand. i dont strive for perfection – i long to make a mirror, a reflection of what i am and what i see.
i only try to speed up when it comes with the gift of more freedom. a greater ability to access and portray what’s on my soul.
for me – the most essential skills are producing on my mpc, writing, and performing vocals.
the biggest hurdles were becoming more comfortable and flexible within myself and having the courage to stumble, strive, and accomplish in front of everybody.
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
at the core — i work in hiphop. i am jant blur (jant pronounced like zhant). i look to capture class and understanding. scenes of opulence laid bare next souls broken to bring it about.
i am most proud of my latest releases and the work to come.
i am the best at what i do because i dont stop growing, evolving, and adapting.
Are there any books, videos or other content that you feel have meaningfully impacted your thinking?
i look to every experience i have as a source of inspiration. it used to just be music, but now its pretty much everything.
i’m a big fan of architecture and writers who wrote from 1870 – 1960.
i love hip hop, jazz, rnb, classical and classic rock.
I like jimmy page, thom bell, dr dre, 2pac, jay-z, genesis, the eagles, hendrix, future, phyllis hyman, drake, and madlib.
there’s a ton more. these are just the artists in the first round that i draw from.
What do you think is the goal or mission that drives your creative journey?
i want to show people the world that’s been shown to me.
i want people to understand my perspective and recognize that its real.
i want people to dance again – have fun, and see beauty in the music.
