We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Jannea Wolff. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Jannea below.
Jannea, appreciate you joining us today. One of our favorite things to hear about is stories around the nicest thing someone has done for someone else – what’s the nicest thing someone has ever done for you?
There have been SO many amazing things that others have done for me throughout the span of my life that I am truly grateful for, but one that directly impacts the success in my career was in 2021. During this time, I was going through a separation/divorce process and had also moved from Philadelphia to Florida which was a huge transition for my children and I. As I was getting adjusted to my new surroundings and finishing up the 3000 clinical hours so I could sit for the LCSW exam; therapy for myself was a top priority. As I was counseling others at a group practice, it was imperative that I too take care of myself considering all of the transitions I was experiencing. But then, I had issues with insurance and was almost certain that the therapist I had been seeing would no longer be able to meet with me due to my change in circumstances. When I shared with her the change, she offered to continue to work with me on a pro-bono basis. We set up some goals I would have to be actively working on and we would check in about them ever so often. She continued to see my for free session and provided support as I prepared to sit for the LCSW exam. Having that support at one of the most challenging times of my life was super impactful in so many ways. I ended up passing my exam and even now we still check about once a month. Having that experience inspired me to keep a pro-bono space in my practice for someone who is in need and committed to their healing. You never know the impact you can have; while having an income is important to live, I truly believe giving back is a currency that goes far beyond the dollar amount…I’m an example of it.
Jannea, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
Most mental health therapist have stories connected to the work they do, and that is very much my story. Initially, I got into the field because I love helping others work through problems, be seen, validated and heard. I was a peer mediator in Elementary School and that is where my skills started to develop I’m sure haha. But in 2019, during the birth of my first daughter I had an emergency c-section where it appeared everything was fine, but unbeknownst to me, I was bleeding internally for 12 hours post Caesarean section. I went into shock, almost died, and the road to recovery was difficult. I experienced postpartum anxiety and struggled for sometime to feel good in my body and find my way in and outside of motherhood. My healing journey consisted of therapy and exercise which began to heal me in so many ways. That experience propelled me to do some research around what other women’s birth stories were like, learn more about traumatic birth, and the role that therapy can play with healing. I currently offer individual therapy to Mom’s who had a traumatic birth and/or having challenges in motherhood. Many of my clients share the sentiment “I don’t know who I am outside of being a Mom” and often feel they are on the back burner of their life. I work with them to validate their feelings and identify health coping skills that will improve their symptoms of depression or anxiety. While individual therapy is my main service, in the near future I will be expanding to provide group therapy and movement classes. What sets me apart from others is the holistic approach that I like to take to treatment, where the focus is on mind AND body. I encourage movement with my clients as part of their treatment plan. There is such a correlation between the mind/body and emotions that you really can’t consider one without taking in account the other. The most important thing I want people to know about Reclaiming Our Wellness LLC. is that our goal is to support you on your journey of defining what motherhood means to you as well as rediscovering who you are outside of motherhood.
What’s been the most effective strategy for growing your clientele?
In the initial consultation call I always ask the potential client “what made you book a call with me, what stood out to you?” Some clients have found me through word of mouth from other or previous clients, but most of them say they connected with me due to what I wrote in my profile. I am genuine and authentic in my delivery and connections with my clients. I have once been where many of them are. I am a Mom parenting a 7 and 4 year old, I get where they are and I try to convey that the best way that I can. I have also equipped myself with many trainings in Perinatal Mental Health and am trained in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing Therapy (EMDR). But honestly, outside of all the skills and trainings the most important connector is relatability and genuine. My main focus from day 1 is to ensure my clients feel safe and that they are in a non judgmental space.
Are there any books, videos, essays or other resources that have significantly impacted your management and entrepreneurial thinking and philosophy?

Some podcasts I have listened to along my journey are The Mindset Mentor, The Private Practice Startup, The Group Practice Exchange, Therapists Deserve Abundance, Social Proof, On Purpose, Oprahs Super Soul and Girl CEO. Some books that have been helpful are The Big Leap, Profit First, The Body Remembers, The Body Keeps the Score, What Happened to You, Outwitting the Devil, and Girl Code.
