We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Janine Bilpush a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Janine , thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today We’d love to hear the backstory behind a risk you’ve taken – whether big or small, walk us through what it was like and how it ultimately turned out.
Going out on my own and starting my own LLC as a nurse injector and medical aesthetician was terrifying when I took the leap of faith. For me is was about creating a life for me and not just making the physicians I worked for in the past an incredibly decent profit from my services.
I have been in the aesthetic industry for over 25 years and I knew that I wanted to offer services the way I wanted to. At pervious offices it was always about quantity over quality. Obviously the more patients you see in the day the more money is made. At the end of the day I had nothing to give to myself. Being a breast cancer survivor and preventing another autoimmune flare I knew I had to change. That is when I met an incredible group of women that I decided that it’s now or never.
It has been the best decision I have ever made. I want others to know it is possible and encourage anyone to follow their instincts and dreams.

Janine , before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
Becoming a nurse injector was not my original course. I decided to go back to college later in life because I wanted to challenge myself. With the intention of becoming a flight nurse I pushed through the program, even though I wanted to give up. In the end I obtained my BSN, only to get diagnosed with an autoimmune disease and then 9 months later breast cancer.
It was at that moment after working 15 hour shifts on the floor that I decided to go back to what I know, aesthetics.
I started my career as an aesthetician. I have worked with many top physicians, and realized it was time to go on my own.
That is how Skin Ritual Med was created.
My brand is a nurse injector with medical skincare expertise. I will create realistic goals with natural results,
Enhancing my clients natural features without changing them.
Are there any books, videos, essays or other resources that have significantly impacted your management and entrepreneurial thinking and philosophy?
My entrepreneurial dose of inspiration is Andy Frisella. I will listen to his podcast because there are ZERO commercials and he is very raw and realistic in how businesses are created. His podcast tends to put me in a motivational energy when I am lacking it.
Learning and unlearning are both critical parts of growth – can you share a story of a time when you had to unlearn a lesson?
The lesson I had to learn is it is never too late to take a chance on yourself.
My schedule and business allows me to take care of myself. The autonomy I have to put my body and mind and the needs required to maintain my health to continue to be productive is the greatest gift I have given myself..
And by feeling good I can give my clients 100% during their appointment time.
