We recently connected with Janie Halaba and have shared our conversation below.
Janie, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Can you tell us about a time where you or your team really helped a customer get an amazing result?
Whenever I can help a First Time Home Buyer get their first home, that is always a success story for me. The latest First Time Home Buyer I helped had completely changed his life around from being in and out of prison and breaking addiction- to deciding he was ready to buy his first home. He actually was surprising his brother with it as well- who was in a half-way house after spending time in prison and turning his life around. He was the most appreciative person and he made everyone cry at the closing because of how happy it made him to become a homeowner. It wasn’t easy finding a home that he qualified for, but when we did- it made all the difference in the world.
Janie, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
I am a Colorado native. I was in Mortgage for over a decade and then I decided to come over to the real estate side of things and have never looked back. I have been at Keller Williams for my entire career and feel they are a super supportive organization and give me the tools to be successful. I also have my pilot’s license on a plane and a helicopter, which I obtained while in the mortgage industry. I go above and beyond for my clients and always will!
Let’s talk about resilience next – do you have a story you can share with us?
I just completed a divorce listing for a friend. This was difficult on all levels because he thought he was doing me a favor by hiring me, therefore never treated me as a professional and would take all of his emotions on me. Meanwhile, I still had to stay neutral to the ex-wife as you must do with divorce listings. It took almost 4 months to get the house sold through a lot of turmoil, but in the end- it sold and each of them ended up buying properties as well with me.
How do you keep in touch with clients and foster brand loyalty?
I have a Customer Appreciation Event at least once a quarter and send little notes randomly to them as well to let them know I am thinking about them and that I hope everything is going well for them.
