We recently connected with Janie Dominguez and have shared our conversation below.
Janie, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. The first dollar your business earns is always special and we’d love to hear how your brand made its first dollar of revenue.
I launched my business with high spirits, sharing the news on Facebook. I received an exciting inquiry from a sorority member needing a photo booth 360 for their upcoming event. It was my first event, and despite it raining on my first event, I was determined to make it a success. However, I had forgotten the photo ring at home, which was an hour away. I offered a full refund, but the client kindly asked me to retrieve it. I learned a valuable lesson and created a checklist to ensure smoother operations in the future.
My key takeaways are:
1. Prepare thoroughly: Double-check equipment before events.
2. Communicate effectively: Keep clients informed about any issues.
3. Problem-solve: Think on your feet and find solutions.
4. Build relationships: Your client’s understanding response shows the importance of building trust.
To further improve:
1. Develop a pre-event checklist.
2. Have a backup plan for unexpected situations.
3. Consider investing in additional equipment (e.g., spare photo rings).
4. Review and refine your processes after each event.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
I love going all out for any occasion, whether it’s a casual hangout or a special event. That’s why I thought the 360 booth would be perfect for my business. It’s a fun and unique way to capture memories and make any gathering more exciting. The booth adds an extra layer of enjoyment, making every moment feel even more special and memorable.
Have you ever had to pivot?
There was a few times when I had to pivot unexpectedly in my life. I was set on a particular path, believing it was the right direction for me. However, unforeseen circumstances forced me to reconsider my plans. It wasn’t easy, but I embraced the change and adapted to the new situation. This pivot taught me the importance of flexibility and resilience, and ultimately led me to opportunities I might not have discovered otherwise. It was a challenging yet rewarding experience that showed me the value of being open to change. I know God is within me and I will not fail. God will lead me down the path that is meant for me and only me.

We often hear about learning lessons – but just as important is unlearning lessons. Have you ever had to unlearn a lesson?
A lesson I had to unlearn was the belief that asking for help was a sign of weakness. Growing up, I always felt that I had to handle everything on my own to prove my strength and independence. However, as I faced more significant challenges in life, I realized that this mindset was holding me back. The backstory involves a particularly tough period when I was overwhelmed with personal and professional responsibilities. It became clear that I couldn’t manage everything alone, and reaching out for support was not only necessary but also empowering. Unlearning this lesson allowed me to build stronger connections with others and achieve more than I ever could on my own.
