Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Janie-Alice Seecharan. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Janie-Alice, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Can you tell us about an important lesson you learned while working at a prior job?
Some of the most important lessons learned that have shaped me as a business owner, came during my previous career in Corporate Finance. For about seven years, I worked in a high-pressure, fast-paced environment where performance and productivity were everything. I was good at it and I was excelling—climbing the corporate ladder faster than I imagined, leading projects, receiving recognition—but in hindsight I was also slowly disconnecting from my core values and from myself. Before making the decision to leave, I was burned out, anxious, and constantly depleted—I remember sitting alone one night, staring at a spreadsheet, and asking myself, Is this it? I had built a life that looked good on paper, but didn’t feel aligned. I had everything I thought I was supposed to want, but I felt completely disconnected and empty. That moment was a turning point and wake-up call.
That experience taught me that success without alignment isn’t sustainable. I had been so focused on showing up for everyone else—work, family, relationships—that I left no space to show up for myself. The burnout, anxiety, and emotional exhaustion I felt were all symptoms of a deeper misalignment. Leaving the corporate world in late 2020 and stepping into my healing journey was one of the hardest decisions I’ve ever made, but it was also the most necessary.
That chapter of my life gave me two major lessons that continue to guide me as a business owner and shape how I run Ignite Your Flow today. First, just because you can do something doesn’t mean you should. I no longer believe in sacrificing well-being for achievement or productivity and I’ve learned pushing through without pause—without presence—will always lead to burnout. When I started Ignite Your Flow, I built it around the values of spaciousness, authenticity, and intention—values I had abandoned in my corporate life, but ones that now shape everything I do.
The second lesson was about the power and the importance of knowing when to pivot. For so long, I resisted change because I was clinging to a version of success I thought I had to maintain. But life—and business—will always shift. Letting go of that narrative wasn’t easy but it was necessary. Learning to adapt without resistance, to see change as redirection rather than failure, has changed everything for me. Whether it’s refining my offerings, shifting my schedule, or embracing new opportunities, I try to lead with flexibility and trust. That mindset has allowed me to grow Ignite Your Flow with more grace and less burnout.
Those experiences gave me more than business skills—they gave me a deeper relationship with myself. And from that place, I’ve been able to build Ignite Your Flow with heart, integrity, and a mission that feels deeply aligned.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
I’m Janie Seecharan, founder of Ignite Your Flow—a heart-led yoga and wellness brand rooted in empowerment, healing, and authenticity. After a seven-year career in Corporate Finance, I left the industry at the end of 2020 to heal from burnout, anxiety, and the constant pressure of over-performing—showing up for others while neglecting myself. Through that healing journey, I reconnected with yoga, breathwork, and meditation, which brought me back to myself—and ultimately led to the creation of Ignite Your Flow in 2022.
Ignite Your Flow is unique because it is not bound to a studio. I specialize in private wellness offerings designed to support the whole person—physically, mentally, emotionally, and energetically. These include one-on-one yoga, guided breathwork, meditation, and customized wellness experiences in the comfort of your home, vacation rental, or event space. I also offer private group sessions for intimate gatherings, celebrations, and corporate wellness events. My goal is always to create intentional, supportive spaces where people can slow down, breathe deeply, and feel safe to reconnect with themselves.
While I do offer public classes and community events, the heart of my work lies in creating personalized wellness experiences that meet people where they are. My approach is trauma-informed, spiritually grounded, and centered on real human connection—not just perfect poses.
What sets Ignite Your Flow apart is the depth of care behind every session. It’s not just about movement; it’s about restoring nervous system balance, nurturing self-awareness, and offering people permission to show up exactly as they are.
I’m most proud of the authentic connections and deep friendships that are forming through this work—within the community and between Ignite Your Flow participants. It’s been incredible to witness how this practice brings people together in such meaningful, genuine ways.
If you’re looking for a space to breathe, soften, and come back to yourself—Ignite Your Flow is here to meet you with open arms.

What’s a lesson you had to unlearn and what’s the backstory?
One of the biggest lessons I’ve had to unlearn is that my productivity doesn’t define my worth. Coming from a fast-paced corporate environment where success was measured by output, efficiency, and constant motion, I was conditioned to equate being busy with being valuable. When I stepped into entrepreneurship and started Ignite Your Flow, I quickly realized that mindset wasn’t sustainable and did not align with the kind of business and life I was trying to create.
At first, I put a lot of pressure on myself to do everything quickly—build the brand, grow the community, say yes to every opportunity. But I started noticing the same patterns of burnout creeping in. That’s when I knew I had to unlearn the belief that I had to constantly be doing in order to be worthy.
The truth is, rest is productive. Reflection is powerful. And growth doesn’t always look like hustle—it often looks like pausing, recalibrating, and allowing things to unfold in divine timing. I’ve learned to be patient with myself, to trust the process, and to honor the natural pace of building something meaningful and entirely new.
That shift has not only supported my own well-being, but it’s allowed me to lead Ignite Your Flow with more presence, intention, and alignment.

What do you think helped you build your reputation within your market?
I think what’s helped me build my reputation is simply being genuine. I show up as myself—in my teaching, my business, and in every interaction. People can feel when your energy is real. I truly care about the people I work with, and I go out of my way to make sure they feel seen, heard, and supported. Whether it’s remembering something personal they shared, adjusting a class to meet their needs, or just holding space when they need it—I believe those small, sincere gestures make the biggest impact.
More than anything, I lead with heart. I’m not trying to be perfect—I’m just showing up with presence and care, and I think that sincerity is what people connect to and remember.
