We were lucky to catch up with Janice Lee recently and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Janice, thanks for joining us today. Naming anything – including a business – is so hard. Right? What’s the story behind how you came up with the name of your brand?
My vision for the office was providing a safe space for children and adults that may have had a negative experience in health care settings through kindness, education, and over all comfort even before even entering the office. We hope to achieve that through social media and providing a candid lens through which people can see how the office operates, meet the doctor, introduce the team. Hopefully, from the moment the patient enters the office, they feel the same positive energy, feel comfortable and safe, and already a member of the FriendLee Family. FriendLee Orthodontics is the embodiment of a warm hug and we strive to be the friendliest team around.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
I got into Orthodontics because there is something magical about being part of someone’s smile transformation. Enhancing or mastering a personalized smile really creates a new light around a person’s aura. There is a huge boost in confidence, the gait even changes, there’s actually pep in the step, and their speech starts to include a huge smile instead of being guarded and closed. I also love working with kids and teens and watching them blossom as we transform their smile and bite.

How did you build your audience on social media?
I am a big proponent of social media and the reach and impact it has. My office and I follow trends but also try to do a mix of genuine posts that allow potential patients to get a feel for who we are a a team, who the doctor is, and a glimpse of what it would feel like to be part of the FriendLee Family. Social Media is also such a great way to virtually introduce your office and team to the world.

Let’s talk about resilience next – do you have a story you can share with us?
I am told I am always doing much at one time. I had 2 kids in residency and then my third baby was born right when the office had finished construction. Essentially, it was like having twins because my office is also was also my baby. There is never an easy time to do anything that scares or excites you, so my motto is, JUST DO IT! There will be obstacles no matter what time you decide to build a business or invest in a business and it will definitely be challenging, but that’s also what makes it exciting. You only have one life, make it count.
