Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Janet(yanny) Velasco. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.

Hi Janet(Yanny), thanks for joining us today. Let’s talk about social media – do you manage your own or do you have someone or a company that handles it for you? Why did you make the choice you did?

I manage my own social media as much as I can. I just have not been able to find anyone to manage my social media accounts or emails so I do this on my own.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?

I am a 30yr old hispanic woman who always had had a passion for beauty/makeup. I started playing with makeup when I was 13 stealing my moms makeup and applying it when she wasn’t looking. I started really getting into makeup until 2012 by watching YouTube videos. Then in 2015 I decided to start my own socials as an outlet dealing with severe anxiety and depression this was my getaway. I then also started freelancing on the weekends I enjoy glamming other women and making them feel beautiful more than what they already are for their special occasions. Just like I also enjoy creating content for my followers and connecting with them.

We’d love to hear the story of how you built up your social media audience?

I just continued to postpone daily back then Instagram was just pictures so I posted about 5 pictures a day spamming my followers. Then videos came around so just constantly posting and engaging with people who would comment and following back.

For you, what’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative?

The most rewarding aspect of being a creator is the fact you get to meet people who you would not ever think you would of ever met. Example owners of your favorite brands top of it working with them. Also learning on how they started their brand/business so inspiring.
