Janetlys , thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Can you open up about a risk you’ve taken – what it was like taking that risk, why you took the risk and how it turned out?
I remember in 2020 I made the decision to move to Atlanta, Georgia by myself. It was a really big risk but I wanted to get my career started and not wait any longer. August 17th. I moved to Atlanta with 900 dollars to my name, and that was the down payment to move in to my apartment. I remember my parents asking me how I was going to live and survive but I took a scary risk and still went. My parents have always believed in me so they let me go. I was scared because I really did not know what I was doing but I knew what I was moving there for. On August 17th, 2020 was the official day I moved to atlanta. I remember being on the highway and I was in Charlotte, North Carolina and an 18 wheeler tire popped off in front of me which made the car go over the tire and it totaled the car. I was stranded in Charlotte trying to figure out what to do because I only had the 900 dollars which was to move in to my apartment. I was thinking to myself maybe it’s a sign I’m not supposed to move but I wasn’t going to give up and let one little obstacle stop me from moving. So, I picked up a Uhaul truck and took it to where the car got towed, put everything in the truck and drove off with the Uhaul to Atlanta with no car. In my head I was like “ wow “ now I have no car but I knew my end goal and that was to move to Atlanta to pursue my career so I kept going. Now that I’m looking back I have came so far. I am pursuing my career and I know I will soon be known for my talents. It’s been a lot of up and downs throughout my journey but I know that this is my calling. I took the biggest risk to move to Atlanta and had a turning point when I got into the car accident but I kept going and have came so far. I still have a long way to go but I know sooner or later my hard work will pay off.
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers
I remember my first ever audition was when I was 12 years old. I started off as a dancer when I was younger. When I was living in North Carolina, I was dancing at the age of 6 years old. As I got older I’ve opened up my creativity and started acting and making music. I am proud of myself for never giving up and always working hard in what I want. I’ve been through a lot of obstacles but I have pushed through them because I know my vision and I know my end goal. This industry takes a lot of hard work and patience and you have to have a strong mental while pursuing this career. I have had to learn a lot on my own. I always have seen myself in movies, and shows. I have always seen myself performing on the biggest stages in front of thousands and thousands of people. Ever since I was little even my family always knew I would be the one to grow up and be famous in the entertainment industry. It’s my passion and I honestly don’t see myself pursuing anything else but what I love doing most,
Any resources you can share with us that might be helpful to other creatives?
One thing I wish I knew earlier when I was younger was learning how to market myself. I remember back in highschool I was performing a lot and I was building a name for myself in Raleigh, but I didn’t know about the marketing side and since I was young and didn’t really know anyone in the industry I was always lost on the marketing side,
What do you find most rewarding about being a creative?
I love how when your an artist or have a talent within the industry it’s such a creative passion to have.
