Today we’d like to introduce you to Janet Taylor
Hi Janet, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I began my career in life organizing back in 1994, driven by a passion for creating order and improving the lives of others. Initially, I focused on transforming cluttered and dysfunctional spaces into functional, vibrant areas in homes and offices. Over the years, my expertise evolved to encompass not just physical spaces but also time management and lifestyle organization for executives and busy professionals.
My dedication to sharing knowledge and empowering others led me to become a speaker and trainer. I’ve had the privilege of presenting at events such as the Philadelphia Home Show and conducting workshops at the Philadelphia Federation of Teachers’ Annual Conference. Additionally, I’ve hosted webinars attended by hundreds, covering crucial topics like life organizing and time management.
The launch of my podcast, “Got Clutter? Get Organized! with Janet,” over a decade ago marked a significant expansion of my reach. It has amassed over a million downloads and was ranked as the number one organizing and decluttering podcast. This platform has allowed me to explore various organizing themes, from preparing for marriage to managing pet ownership and optimizing pantry organization for better health.
My work has not only been recognized on platforms like HGTV’s “Mission: Organization” and “The Rachael Ray Show” but also through features in various publications. This recognition has affirmed my commitment to helping others achieve clarity and order in their lives, solidifying my reputation as ‘The Clutter Free Queen.’
Today, I continue to innovate and inspire through various mediums, committed to helping people streamline their lives for better functionality, peace, and enjoyment.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
The road to where I am today has had its share of challenges. One of the most personal and profound struggles was becoming a full-time caregiver for my mother for 18 months before she passed. This period taught me invaluable lessons about life’s priorities and the deep integration of personal and professional commitments. It was a time of intense emotional and physical demand, which reshaped my approach to life organizing, emphasizing the importance of flexibility and resilience in both personal and work spaces.
The onset of COVID-19 was another significant hurdle. Practically overnight, my fully booked calendar became empty as the world grappled with lockdowns and uncertainties. This abrupt change forced me to pivot dramatically. I seized the opportunity to refine my skills as a webinar presenter, transitioning from in-person engagements to virtual platforms. This not only helped sustain my business but also broadened my audience reach, allowing me to connect with clients and listeners globally in a new, dynamic way.
These challenges, while difficult, have been instrumental in my growth both personally and professionally. They’ve taught me the importance of adaptability and the value of continually enhancing one’s skills to meet evolving circumstances.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?

This adaptability is a core part of my brand, emphasizing resilience and continuous growth.

What was your favorite childhood memory?
One of my most cherished childhood memories revolves around the quality time I spent with my parents, each moment highlighting their unique personalities and passions. I fondly remember the days spent with my dad, whether we were out fishing on a quiet lake or dancing in the living room to our favorite tunes. These experiences not only brought us closer but also instilled in me a love for life’s simple joys and spontaneous moments.
Equally memorable were the times with my mom, especially during the Christmas season. She had a special talent for comedy and an impeccable eye for home decor. Decorating our home for Christmas was an annual tradition that transformed our space into a festive and joyful environment. Her laughter and creative flair during these times left a lasting impact on me, influencing my career in organizing spaces to evoke joy and functionality.
Each of these experiences has enriched my life, embedding a deep appreciation for family, creativity, and the joy of living in the moment.
