Alright, Janet thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. We’d love to hear about a project that you’ve worked on that’s meant a lot to you.

The Creative Thinking workshop was created to enlighten and ignite creativity. The high energy workshop includes inspiring stories and innovative exercises ranging from brainstorming and word games, to deep introspective interpersonal reflection. The fast paced workshop is a mix of art, inspiration, and education, mixed with just the right amount of stand -up comedy, essentially, a bootcamp for the brain.

Janet, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?

I have been a professional artist and art educator for over 35 years in South Florida. I have a Masters Degree in both Art and Education, and have taught Kindergarten to College in my teaching career. I have worked in painting, pastel, sculpture, collage, and assemblage. I have been a teacher, writer. playwright, photographer, and curator.

How about pivoting – can you share the story of a time you’ve had to pivot?

Pivoting as we speak. A Creative Thinking Workshop is the new and logical path after a 35 year teaching career. I taught Creative Thinking at the Art Institute of Fort Lauderdale for 11 weeks, 4 quarters a year, day and night, for 8 years. This class had the most innovative, inspiring, and literally laugh-out-loud activities and experiences of any class that I have ever taught. After retiring in 2013 I cherry-picked my favorite activities and turned it into a Creative Thinking Workshop that has been presented at museums, galleries, and in my studio.

What’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative in your experience?

One of the most rewarding activities in the workshop is to have the participants write down their goals for 1 year, 5 years, 10 years, and 20 years. It is one of the most profound activities of the workshop. This activity itself changes the trajectory of the participant when they leave the workshop.
