Hi Janeka, thanks for joining us today. Have you ever had an amazing boss, mentor or leader leading you? Can you us a story or anecdote that helps illustrate why this person was such a great leader and the impact they had on you or their team?
In my whole life I have only had one boss who I adored. Her name is Darcy and she is an amazing person with a wonderful heart. When I first started working I didn’t expect us to connect the way that we did. Darcy was a boss but a human being first. She didn’t use her position to make others feel less than, instead she used her position to help others, to understand her staff and any issues they were facing. She was a very personal person who genuinely cared for her staff and would go the extra mile for them. Darcy will forever be the best boss to me. There was a time I was facing some personal struggles, she picked up on it, pulled me to the side and asked me what’s wrong. I broke down to her, she created a space with no judgment. She previously went through the same thing in life that I was facing in that moment. She motivated me, she inspired me, she uplifted me, she seen me. That was huge for me and will forever be. Long after we stopped working together she supported my small business and till this day she still supports me. I will always be thankful for her.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
I’ve always been an uplifting person on my social media platform. My posts reached multiple people which created an even more broader audience. And once I released my music I was able to create an even bigger audience. I provide motivation and I inspire people to be the best versions of themselves, not to give up or give in.
What sets me apart from others is I’m simply me. I don’t care about being judged or how I’m viewed. I care about what feels right to my soul. I’m always going to be myself and be proud of me. I don’t aspire to fit in, I aspire to stand out. I’m proud of how far I’ve come and that I didn’t allow myself to fold while I was going through hard times.
For you, what’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative?
It would definitely have to be hearing people tell me that my song helped them get through the day or that my resilience has motivated them to become their best self. It’s overall knowing that my journey has inspired them.

Can you share a story from your journey that illustrates your resilience?
My journey in general. Going through a bad break up, having to start over and build myself and my life back up, dealing with people who didn’t wish me well, I took all the pain and transmuted into something beautiful. No matter what anyone tried to do to I didn’t let them. I motivated myself everyday.
