Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Jane Sayers. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Hi Jane, thanks for joining us today. Can you talk to us about how you learned to do what you do?
At first spent a lot of time studying art and artists in my spare time. Wandering around art galleries and art museums. I also watched a lot of tutorials, but I would say that having a passion in my heart for art is what kept me moving forward and trying. It has taken me two years of daily practice to get where I am today. My biggest obstacle is scheduling enough time each day in front of my easel to progress. I am fully dedicated to making this my full time career when the time is right.
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
I am not only an artist but a mother and grandmother, with a full time job. I have always wanted to delve into art but never had the confidence to try. During the pandemic I looked for a creative outlet and painted my first ever painting on canvas. After I completed my 2nd and 3rd paintings and posted them on social media they were both sold within 15 minutes of posting them. This gave me the confidence to pursue painting. It became my passion. I opened an Etsy shop (originalartbyjane.Etsy.com) to sell paintings and also have been in art galleries in New York and Las Vegas. I have a large following on social media, and I’m sponsored by a small art supply company to provide them paintings for their online catalog. I now get orders for commission work as well. My artwork is also in an art showroom in Toronto Canada, as my art career is now managed by Rupert Young (fine art dealer/broker. It has been a long road teaching myself how to paint and getting my artwork out to the public. I feel that this will be a lifelong pursuit of mine as I’m absolutely in love with art and painting.
What do you think is the goal or mission that drives your creative journey?
My goal is to paint full time as well as to have an art studio/gallery before retirement age so I can spend all day, every day on painting and creating. This dream keeps me going and creating.
What do you find most rewarding about being a creative?
The best reward to all of my work is when a client is pleased with a painting or commission they’ve purchased. They write to me showing so much love for my paintings. If I can continue to bring happiness to people through my art then I know I’m on the right path.
