We recently connected with Jane Samoylova and have shared our conversation below.
Jane, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. We’d love to hear about a time you helped a customer really get an amazing result through their work with you.
I help people fall in love with English language.
English seems difficult for most Russian speaking people, at least thats exactly how it’s taught at schools back in Russia. My mission is to prove otherwise teaching English through logic, associations, stories that are relevant for my students right here right now.
So I’ve helped a big bunch of Russian speaking people break that wall and push through.
Some of my most hardworking cases took about a year to get from knowing only a few words in English to speaking fluently, which eventually helped them build their business successfully in the USA, start dating and find a man they love.
I’m particularly proud to be a part of their success and truly grateful to them for entrusting their eduction to me.
Jane, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
My name is Evgenia, but I go by Jane in the U.S.—it’s just easier for Americans to pronounce. I’ve been teaching English as a foreign language for over 15 years. When I moved to the U.S. in 2015, I transitioned to teaching online, and in 2019, I launched my first online course focused on mastering the American accent and authentic pronunciation.
While I could have created a basic English course—plenty were available at the time—my research showed a real gap in pronunciation training tailored for Russian speakers. English pronunciation, especially the nuances of connected speech, can be challenging. My mission was to simplify this, helping learners truly understand how American sounds are formed.
To create the course, I dove deep into studying the muscle movements required for American pronunciation. I developed my own accent by watching American movies and shadowing native speakers, but building a course required breaking down each detail: from explaining which mouth muscles to engage to exercises that train those muscles to produce American sounds, as well as teaching intonation and rhythm. My goal was to empower English learners to sound more American, boosting their confidence and competitiveness in the US job market. By teaching them cultural nuances and authentic expressions, I helped them communicate naturally and stand out in their careers.
How’d you build such a strong reputation within your market?
Building my reputation has really come down to being consistent, genuinely invested in each client’s progress, and bringing a little humor into the process. I make an effort to listen closely to their needs and adapt my approach so they’re getting exactly what helps them most—but I also try to make it fun. Learning a language can be overwhelming, so I use humor to make it easier to digest and keep things lighthearted. I think clients see that blend of commitment and a relaxed, friendly vibe, and it’s created a level of trust and loyalty that’s invaluable. On top of that, sharing practical tips and real success stories on social media has helped me reach a wider audience and give people a taste of what working with me is like—authentic, supportive, and tons of fun along the way.
Can you tell us about what’s worked well for you in terms of growing your clientele?
For me, the key to growing my clientele has been a very personalized approach. I focus on each client’s unique goals—like acing interviews, mastering professional small talk, or just sounding more natural day-to-day. This customized coaching has led to strong word-of-mouth referrals, which I’ve found to be the most powerful marketing tool. Social media has also played a big role; I share language tips, success stories, and insights there, which helps potential clients get a feel for how I can support their journey toward more natural, confident communication.
