We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Janae White. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Janae below.
Janae, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Can you talk to us about a project that’s meant a lot to you?
I am excited to share with you a new project that is currently in the works – a self-care coloring book for adults! Coloring books have become increasingly popular in recent years, as people have recognized the meditative and stress-relieving benefits that come from this simple activity. With this coloring book, we aim to provide a tool for adults to practice self-care and mindfulness through the act of coloring. The book will feature a variety of designs, and helpful tools to help you look deeper into yourself and make your self a priority, all with the intention of helping the user unwind and relax. We hope that this coloring book will become a valuable resource for those looking to prioritize their mental health and well-being.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
Eanaj Janae started her career as a hobby in Southern California and is a self-taught artist who began making a career in 2019. She noticed a gap in the representation of black women in the art world, where black women were often portrayed in a certain way. As a result, she decided to fill this gap by creating art that showcased the beauty, strength, and diversity of black women.
Being a black woman artist in a male-dominated world was not easy, but she persevered and continued to create art that spoke to her experiences and those of other black women. Her work has since gained recognition, and she has become a voice for the underrepresented in the art world and beyond.
In addition to showcasing the beauty of black women, Eanaj also sheds light on mental health issues in the black community. She uses her platform to speak about the importance of mental health and to encourage others to seek help when needed.
What sets Eanaj part from others is her ability to create art that not only tells a story but also empowers and inspires others. She uses her art to initiate conversations about important issues and to bring about positive change.
Overall, Eanaj is most proud of her ability to use her art to make a difference in the world. She wants potential clients, followers, and fans to know that her work is not just about creating beautiful pieces but also about making a positive impact on society.

How can we best help foster a strong, supportive environment for artists and creatives?
In my view, there are several things that society can do to best support artists, creatives, and a thriving creative ecosystem. Firstly, it is important for people to give the creative industry the respect it deserves. Many people use art for different purposes, but they do not always understand the effort and dedication required to bring a creative work to life. By recognizing and respecting the creative process, we can encourage more people to pursue artistic careers and support those who are already in the field. Secondly, supporting artists is simple and can be achieved in different ways. One way is to share and talk about their work, and praise the hard work and talent that goes into creating it. This can be done through social media, word of mouth, or attending their shows and exhibitions. Another way to support artists is by buying their art, as this provides them with a source of income and allows them to continue creating. Reposting their work on social media can also help to increase their visibility and reach a wider audience.
Overall, supporting artists and creatives is crucial for the growth of a thriving creative ecosystem. By showing respect and appreciation for their work, sharing and talking about it, and supporting them financially, we can help to create a world where art and creativity can flourish.

What’s a lesson you had to unlearn and what’s the backstory?
One important lesson that I had to unlearn was that rules in the art game are meant to be broken. For a long time, I followed the rules as they were laid out, thinking that they would help me succeed. However, I found that more often than not, following those rules did not benefit me in any way. It was only when I saw other people breaking those rules that I began to realize the truth behind this lesson. The backstory behind this lesson is that I had been trained to follow the rules from a very young age. My parents and teachers had always emphasized the importance of following the rules, and I had carried that mentality with me into the art world. However, as I began to interact with more artists and see their success, I realized that many of them were breaking the rules that I had always thought were essential to success.
Over time, I began to experiment with breaking some of these rules myself, and I found that it often led to better results than following them blindly. I learned that creativity and innovation are key in the art world, and that sometimes breaking the rules is necessary to stand out and succeed. This was a difficult lesson to unlearn, but ultimately it has helped me to become a more successful and fulfilled artist.
