Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Janae Harris. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Hi Janae, thanks for joining us today. Can you talk to us about a project that’s meant a lot to you?
Creating a foundation for the community where I can educate about my passions and teach how to create their own customized crystal healing jewelry while learning the history and benefits of each stone. It’s been such an honor to share my community what has healed me from physical pain & depression.
Janae, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
I was in a dark place back in 2017 I was battling depression and anxiety with work and ending an engagement from a toxic relationship. I also gained a lot of weight and suffered form health problems. I had a friend who got me out the house and took me to a crystal wrapping class, she knew it was up my alley because I’ve been collecting healing crystals since I was a kid. The name of the class was called “Wrap & Roll”. Where you wrap crystals and smoke some rolled weed lol. It was exactly what the doctor ordered. When I started to create my necklace I can feel the weight lift off my shoulders, the pain and anxiety started to go away as well. The instructor Came to me and ask if I’ve created before and when I told her no she said see me after class. After class she mentioned how I can start My own business making jewelry. I sort of laughed it off as I felt there was no outlet out of my job anytime soon. But as soon as I got home I ordered wire and tools. This was my therapy, creating crystal healing jewelry became my outlet. I then gathered all my crystals around the home and started creating. I ended up making necklaces, rings, bracelets, arm cuffs, anklets, and more. I got tons of compliments on social media and from many friends and family. A lot of people would ask me in public, where did you get your pieces made. It was then clear to me the instructor who is now a great friend of mine (Jasmine with Queendom Cultivation) was right. I created a website and did a small launch and sold out in 72 hours. I started then researching more about the healing properties of crystals. I’ve taken many classes about crystals and and crystal healing. I traveled to Gem shows to research more about crystals. Finally in 2018 I created my business and named it after me “Janae Nikole”. And just 2 years later during the pandemic, I became a full time entrepreneur. I am my own brand. I promised myself to be my own walking talking manifestation. My life changed when I started to apply the healing properties of crystals to my day to day life. Not just with jewelry but also having a crystal to assist me in sleep, financial gain, abundance, recovery, creativity, etc. my Mission is to provide beautiful hand made crystal jewelry to my clients but to also educate my community on how to utilize crystals in their day to day lives and to manifest the desires of their hearts.
What do you find most rewarding about being a creative?
The most rewarding in my life is being able to teach workshops for my community and educate them on the history of crystals. Some of my courses include teaching how to create crystal healing jewelry, crystal learning 101, manifesting through meditations and affirmations, and vision board parties. It has also been rewarding to travel all over the US and connect with beautiful people! My favorite places were Baltimore & Miami.
We’d love to hear the story of how you built up your social media audience?
Being a Introvert/extrovert it hasn’t been easy. But I still am able to push content on top of content. Any popular music, and thing that is trendy, and Timelapse everything you create. I find helpful and Gaines a lot of traffic and a larger audience.
I believe having the experience in photo journalism has also been a plus for me. I love creating videos that meets the eye and attention of others. I also love to photography my items in a cool and fun scenery that also gain more followers.
Ive also provided a platform on Instagram for local vendors to find work in the Bay Area. This has helped me to connect with over 1000 vendors and local hosts.
Best advice I can give to connecting with your audience is to be authentically you, people want to know more about you just as much as the product, maybe even more.
