Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to J’ana Thompson. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.

J’Ana, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Can you open up about a risk you’ve taken – what it was like taking that risk, why you took the risk and how it turned out?

The life changing risk I’ve taken in my life is finally pursuing a dream/career is being a content creator. Since the age of 11, me and my friend would record videos pretending we were older impersonating youtubers. I. grew up watching Youtubers like kianna jay perfect laughs, DDG, Seeing them come from absolute nothing to something big was always aspiring because they just picked up the camera and just recorded. I used to always worry like what if I don’t get the support? what if I don’t have the best views on my videos or what if I look dumb doing this?I finally shut the doubts down by saying I rather be supported by strangers and I rather continue to post even if the video do ten views because I knew those content creators experienced this before so why can’t I go on the same journey and grind and stop worrying about what my go wrong and just finally do it to prove to myself.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?

I was born and raised in Dayton, Ohio. I’m a fun, optimistic, and blunt person as well. I’m always into trying new things that I may not be familiar with and always curious to learn more. I’m the youngest child of my parents. I got into content Creating by watching gaming YouTube channels such as theradbrad Slowly, it transitioned into lifestyle where YouTubers would vlog about their everyday lives and start doing amazing challenges that were not only fun, but also entertaining as well especially in 2016 where an era of YouTubers would collaborate together in a house together where they would mesh their idea’s together for each of their own audience to enjoy as a collaborative project or video. What sets me apart from others is im very passionate about my content and that everything you see about me is authentic. Everything is about my life is true to my story and my hard work, sweat, and tears from the hours of work I put into pursuing and crafting my brand shows and will always be on full display.

We often hear about learning lessons – but just as important is unlearning lessons. Have you ever had to unlearn a lesson?

The lesson I had to unlearn was to stop expecting so much from people. Sometimes you’ll believe you’ll have all the support until you put your plan in motion. You’ll have supporters that will support you and keep up with you with daily questions that shows how invested they are in your work such as “hey we loved your last video when are you gonna post another one?” Those words are very genuine that keeps you going for those that so invested in your work whether it’s ten people that view your video or maybe twenty. Some people only speak of supporting but won’t actually follow through and it can put you in a negative state of mind that you may find yourself drowning in the frustration due to the lack of support. Always put faith in god to lead the way and to drown out the noise.

What’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative in your experience?

The most rewarding aspect of being a content creator is networking and engagement. Seeing the insight and engagement as I continue to post more puts myself in a great position. With a rising engagement, I can network with other brands such as clothing, beauty products and many more aspects that more people will be drawn to. For example with a growing insight, I will be able to sponsor products from companies and share with my audience to shop and buy from.
