We were lucky to catch up with Jamir Smith recently and have shared our conversation below.

Jamir , looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. When did you first know you wanted to pursue a creative/artistic path professionally?

I remember when I began reading the pages of Right On! Magazine, Word Up & Vibe Magazine and saw how creative people of color were. In addition to how colorful the pages were of fashion. I knew at that point I wanted to create a space for other creatives to tell their stories, so I built The “JamirSmithShow”.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?

I am extremely proud of creating a platform for the everyday person to tell their stories. I realized that we are all creatives and having a platform to give people their flowers while they are alive and discussing their life can showcase alignment with our listeners of The JamirSmithShow Podcast.

Is there mission driving your creative journey?

The goal of my journey has been to leave a legacy for other black and brown boys like myself. Understand that if you have a dream, write it out, manifest and feed that dream with knowledge, research, and partnership. I also wanted to make sure that in my life I aligned my brand with others to help support their dreams as well.

For you, what’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative?

Wow I love this question, because when I interview guest I receive a lot of “ah ha” moments during the process and I realize that I did my research and people appreciate how deep and therapeutic the conversations will go. In addition building the digital footprint has really helped me tap into a new market of listeners.
