Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Jamika Jackson . We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Jamika, appreciate you joining us today. Before we get into specifics, let’s talk about success more generally. What do you think it takes to be successful?
Consistency, focus, dedication, and having the drive to keep going. Success isn’t just about having money, or making money. True enough, it’s nice to know its there. Success is all about the longevity of your product, the memory and impact it would have on others. The dedication you put in it. Being innovative and authentic. While devoting your blood, sweat, and tears into your very own passion. Being memorial. There are times I just sit and research different techniques, styles, images; then end up seeing it on someone or it pops up on a commercial and/ or ads. I take that as a sign of keep going.
Jamika, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
Starting from a young age, cosmetics (hair) was always a way to get my fingers wet. But I always wanted to be different from others. With all the different Stylist, and different techniques. Offering all in one services, was a way to keep clients comfortable. Braids, extensions, beauty enhancing, with a self-care environment. Makes life a little easier, when you have one stylist that can cater to majority of your beauty needs. Learning the different ideals that come to mind to perfect your hiccups along with having to display your craft; makes you go harder. Entrepreneuraship was always a way to freedom for myself. The cosmetic world is very busy for a woman. The whole matter or focus behind my brand is to be as convenient as possible for my clients, while also taking up as much time as they need. Keeping everything in one motion. While fulfilling there needs. Everyone’s satisfied at the end.
What’s a lesson you had to unlearn and what’s the backstory?
Everyone’s going to support you, is something I had to unlearn. When you start your journey, you have to lead with faith, and knowing that everyone isn’t going to support you. And that’s ok. That doesn’t mean stop, or give up. That means go hard. Sometimes your journey includes a new following and/ or setting.
We’d love to hear the story of how you built up your social media audience?
Building your audience through a social setting sometimes may seem difficult, but it’s all about finding your target. All businesses have different crowds, setting or people they attract. Working class, parents with children, etc. You want to be of use in all classes. Advice for building social media presence, is appearance. You are your brand.
