We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Jamie Wojcik a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Jamie, thanks for joining us today. Let’s kick things off with your mission – what is it and what’s the story behind why it’s your mission?
I wanted the give others the ability to consume the culture of all things comics books. Thus stemming from comics themselves to the big screen. I remember looking for an all in one outlet in any form really and no other fit that narrative for me. So I decided to start my own.
Jamie, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
To start, I have an amazing team backing me in all ventures of The Code-X Station. We offer a variety of different shows. We have our main podcast with someone you have interviewed in the past in Sonny Kruger and Tim Morse. The podcast itself We offer up to date comic news, a trivia segment where we try to stump eachother in do you know? And a review of a comic or series. We have our Code-X Reviews section lead by Kristen Kurek for movies and comics giving our rating and thoughts on them. Comic Character of the Week where usually myself, Sal Rowe, Kevin Berkeley, and Dan Kelley do deep dives into a certain Comic Character that Week talking about their powers to some of our recommended readings. Then there’s Code-X After Dark where we show off what we bought that week and go over certain topics we may have missed on our other shows. I’m honestly most proud of everything we have done to this point. It started with Sonny and I and lead to something much bigger.
What’s a lesson you had to unlearn and what’s the backstory?
The hardest lesson I had to unlearn was to block out the noise. Not every negative comment should be taken to heart but more of a fuel to drive us moving forward. We had a big name in the industry go against a review we did and we all had to learn that first it is our opinion and Second if you are in this industry you should be use to the criticism.
Can you tell us the story behind how you met your business partner?
Oh, this is a good one. What do I say about the good Ole SK Sonny Kruger. When I sat one day during the pandemic I told myself I can do better but needed someone to help push me as hard as I would push back. Sonny was the first guy I went to and when I told him about the idea he even said ” we do this we go all in and who cares what the others think” I’ll never forget that. Now 2 years later we are better then ever.
