We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Jamie Senn a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Jamie thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. It’s easy to look at a business or industry as an outsider and assume it’s super profitable – but we’ve seen over and over again in our conversation with folks that most industries have factors that make profitability a challenge. What’s biggest challenge to profitability in your industry?
Photography might seem like easy money, but there are hidden challenges that make profitability tough. The equipment is expensive to buy and maintain, and there are ongoing costs for editing software, maintaining a client closet, and the expense of driving to various locations. A lot of time also goes into planning sessions, editing photos, and managing the business behind the scenes. Work can be seasonal, with demand peaking around the holidays, making it hard to have steady income year-round. On top of that, many people don’t realize how much effort and skill goes into professional photography, so they compare it to cheaper options without understanding the value. Balancing these costs, educating clients, and delivering high-quality results are some of the biggest challenges.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
My name is Jamie Senn, and I’m a luxury family and couples lifestyle photographer based in Orlando, Florida, and Cocoa Beach. I’ve been in the photography business for over 10 years, working with families visiting Disney World, Cocoa Beach, and the Orlando area for vacations. My journey into photography began with a deep love for capturing the special moments in my own family’s life, and it blossomed into a career as I realized how much joy and meaning these moments hold for others.
I specialize in creating timeless, high-quality images that tell the unique stories of my clients. I offer family and couples sessions, including mini sessions for holidays or special occasions. Many of my sessions are scheduled around golden hour to create that soft, dreamy light that enhances the beauty of my subjects and the environment. I also help clients feel confident and comfortable by providing styling guidance and offering a carefully curated client closet with pieces that photograph beautifully.
What sets me apart is my attention to detail and my commitment to creating an experience, not just a photoshoot. From helping clients prepare for their session to delivering fully edited, polished images, I focus on making the process seamless and enjoyable. I encourage clients to feel their best by recommending professional hair and makeup artists and ensuring their wardrobe choices align with their vision.
The biggest problems I solve for clients are styling stress and the challenge of getting everyone in their family to feel at ease during a session. I pride myself on creating a relaxed environment where families can genuinely connect, making their images feel natural and full of life.
I’m most proud of the trust my clients place in me to preserve their memories. The joy and emotion in their reactions when they see their final images remind me why I love what I do.
For anyone considering working with me, I want you to know that my goal is to create a lasting treasure for your family—a gallery of images that will bring smiles, happy tears, and cherished memories for years to come. My work isn’t just about pictures; it’s about telling your story in a way that’s uniquely yours.

What’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative in your experience?
The most rewarding part of being a photographer is the connection I get to build with my clients and the impact my work has on their lives. Capturing moments that families will treasure forever—whether it’s a child’s laughter, a couple’s love, or the unique dynamics of a family—is incredibly fulfilling. I love knowing that my photos will become part of someone’s legacy, shared with future generations as a way to relive special times.
Another rewarding aspect is seeing the joy and sometimes even tears when clients view their final images. It’s a reminder that my work goes beyond creating beautiful pictures; it’s about freezing time and preserving memories in a way that feels authentic and meaningful.
Creativity is also a big part of what keeps me inspired. Each session is unique, allowing me to experiment with light, composition, and emotion to tell a story. Whether it’s the softness of a golden hour beach shoot or the vibrant energy of a holiday-themed session, I find immense satisfaction in creating art that reflects the individuality of each client.

How do you keep in touch with clients and foster brand loyalty?
I keep in touch with clients and foster brand loyalty by building genuine relationships and providing a personal, high-quality experience. After sessions, I always follow up with a thank-you note. On social media, I engage with clients by sharing sneak peeks, tagging them in posts, and responding to comments or messages. To show appreciation, I offer exclusive perks like early access to promotions, or small gifts like an extra image at their next session. I also send occasional email newsletters with updates, styling tips, and special offers to keep them informed. By consistently delivering an enjoyable experience and staying connected, I’ve built strong relationships with clients who trust me with their most cherished memories and return year after year.
