We were lucky to catch up with Jamie Poole recently and have shared our conversation below.
Jamie, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today We’d love to hear about the best boss, mentor, or leader you’ve ever worked with.
When I moved here to the Houston area 15 years ago, I started a job as a medical assistant in a Dermatology practice. The Dermatologist that owned the practice was a fierce female doctor who really held education to a high priority. She knew that when I started, that I wanted to become a Registered Nurse, and supported me in my journey. After I finished nursing school, I decided that I wanted to possibly get into Plastic Surgery Nursing. After a few months, I missed the Dermatology world, I missed Aesthetics, and her guidance and wisdom. I had watched her for about 4 years doing Aesthetic procedures, lasers, filler, neurotoxin, peels, and many other things. I felt as if I could inject before I even had the license, ability and skill set to inject. She was the first patient I ever injected- no pressure! She taught me each day why she was treating the way she was, why she chose certain injectables or lasers versus others, and that kind of training is invaluable. It is a big part of what has made me the Aesthetic Nurse Injector that I am today. She always reminded me to never stop learning. When she retired, I moved back into Plastic Surgery to continue my practice as an Aesthetic Nurse Injector. But even to this day, she reminds me to never stop, to keep striving for more, and is still one of my biggest fans!

Jamie, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
My name is Jamie Poole. I am an Advanced Aesthetic Nurse Injector and Certified Aesthetic Nurse Specialist. I moved to the Houston area about 15 years ago and have been injecting for about 12 years. I absolutely love this industry and how it is always evolving. I started out in Dermatology, before going into the Plastic Surgery world. I learned so much in Dermatology that helped me grow into the nurse injector I am today. I started my career watching thousands of procedures being done by the doctor I worked with. Before I was even able to be a nurse injector, I felt like I had so much knowledge in aesthetics before even putting a needle in someone’s face!
I have such a passion for what I do. There are always new products to learn about, new techniques, and even new studies regarding anatomy. For the patients I treat, I want to be sure that I am offering the most innovative treatments, products and procedures. I can assure my patients, through my training and experience, that I will go above and beyond to provide the best treatment plan, while your safety is maintained by the highest standards in the aesthetic industry.
I offer my patients various products, such as filler, Botox/Dysport, Sculptra, PRP injections, and medical grade skin care to name a few. I specialize in a comprehensive approach to aesthetic treatments. I treat areas of the face and body. In the office we also offer other treatment modalities that I like to pair with my injectable treatments for the best results. One of my favorite things to do is guide patients in facial balancing treatments. Patients generally come in knowing what they do not like in the mirror, or what bothers them, but often do not know what is causing it. My consultations are thorough and treatment plans are customized for each individual. These aesthetic treatments should always enhance your natural beauty and never change the way you look. I enjoy helping each patient feel their best, look their best, and feel confident. I explore each patient’s budget, goals, and derive a timeline for our aesthetic journey together to achieve those goals.
I think what sets me apart from some other injectors, would be that I build great, long-lasting relationships with my patients. I have known some of my patients over 10 years. I genuinely get to know them, their story, and I remember important things about them. None of my patients are a number, or some face chart on a piece of paper, these are people I genuinely care about. I love to catch up each time they come in and see where life has taken them since I saw them last!
Another thing I believe sets me apart is that I appreciate and respect my patients’ time. I hold myself to a high standard of being on time and getting what I need to get done in the timeframe I promised, so they can get on with their busy schedules. I pride myself on great customer service, an exceptional in- office experience, and personal follow up. Each one of my patients gets a call from me to follow up on their in-office treatments and can rest assured that I will always be reachable should they have a concern.
The most amazing thing to hear from a patient is that they fully trust me to see their vision and tell me to do what I need to to get them there. It is a huge responsibility and privilege to entrust someone with your face, and I do not take it lightly. Walking with my patients through their Aesthetic journey is so very rewarding, and I enjoy every step of it!

Do you think you’d choose a different profession or specialty if you were starting now?
If I could go back, I would definitely choose the same profession. Honestly, I think the only thing I would change is to start in Aesthetics sooner. I believe education is constant in this profession, so I would have done a deeper dive into more, sooner. Aesthetics is constantly evolving. Techniques, products, treatments, and even anatomy is heavily studied constantly. The more I learn, expose myself to, and know, is always most valuable to my practice as a Nurse Injector, and heavily influences how I care for patients.

Any stories or insights that might help us understand how you’ve built such a strong reputation?
I believe what helps build my reputation, is that I am a very honest injector, who like most of my patients, loves a natural-looking result. As a Nurse Injector, I get to help people look their best, feel confident, and feel very positive about themselves. When I consult with my patients, we talk about their concerns, budget, and goals. I assist them in giving all their options, educate them on what will correct the issue they see, and we walk that journey together. If anything along the way is unrealistic, or unreasonable, my patients can count on me to let them know. In Aesthetics, a nurse gets to both do what we love and help people while doing it! I am very blessed to call my work my passion.
