We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Jamie Howard a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Jamie, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. Let’s kick things off with your mission – what is it and what’s the story behind why it’s your mission?
While journeying through 8 years of infertility and all of the shame, guilt, and trauma that comes with that, I discovered how disconnected I was from my own sense of value and purpose. I made it a priority to get to know myself; to uncover who I actually am versus who I thought I was supposed to be. The most accessible way to do that was to reintroduce myself to my own body’s wisdom as a sovereign source of intuition and guidance.
What followed was a toolbox of practices that helped me develop a way of living based on my own needs and desires- not the expectations of others… a life of freedom and wildly expansive joy.
The more I shared my story, the more I noticed how many others also struggled living a life driven by outside expectations. At that time, Wild Souls Healing was born and our mission became clear:
To reconnect people to their body wisdom by shedding layers of trauma, interrupting harmful generational patterns, and freeing themselves from societal expectations.

Jamie, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
Coming from a professional background in public education and counseling, I knew there was a very real need for safe places for people to tend to their own mental & emotional wellness. What I do is not meant to be a replacement for mental health therapy- I am not a medical or psychiatric professional. What I do is meant to be additional support for those who want a more personal experience and want to be in the driver’s seat of their own process. Very simply, I help clients discover who they really are underneath who they’re told to be. I help them identify what kind of life they actually want, how to create that, and how to recognize the ways in which they stand in their own way.
I am unique in my ability to connect and create safety for every single one of my clients, no matter what they’ve been through or what they’re navigating now. I’m not afraid to gently push and lovingly challenge when it’s appropriate, all while continuously reminding you of how incredibly powerful you are. I truly hear you and all that you’re bringing to the conversation. When you walk away, you will know that you’ve been seen and valued.
My vision:
To cultivate a community of people who love their body and define their future
My mission:
To reconnect people to their body wisdom by shedding layers of trauma, interrupting harmful generational patterns, and freeing themselves from societal expectations.
I do this by providing 1-on-1 coaching (virtual or in-person), couples & family counseling, sound healing & guided meditation, large or small group workshops & embodiment classes, and 1-day and 4-day all-inclusive women’s retreats.
I also make and sell spiritual products such as meditation candles and altar items.
Learning and unlearning are both critical parts of growth – can you share a story of a time when you had to unlearn a lesson?
In 2016, when I started this business, I very quickly recognized how saturated the coaching industry had become and like many others, I completed coach training hoping clients would magically appear before my eyes. When that didn’t happen, I began the process of “branding”- watching every marketing and selling webinar I could find looking for the holy grail: the singularly perfect way to fill your schedule with clients year-round. Nothing was working. I realized that what I was doing was looking to people who had been successful and telling myself to be like them. Talk like them. Post on social media like them. Make offers like them. I had forgotten the whole reason I became a coach in the first place: to share my story and use it to remind others of their power. I finally hired a business coach that guided me back to myself. “You are the brand. Just get out there and show yourself,” she said plainly. And so I did. I quickly recognized that I didn’t need bells, whistles, or a dog and pony show. I just needed to show up authentically.

How about pivoting – can you share the story of a time you’ve had to pivot?
Healing the Wild Soul is about remembering who you were before you were told who you’re supposed to be and healing the trauma that’s caused by those expectations.
In 2008, everything was going according to plan: I had a great career, a wonderful husband, and we were excited to start a family.
Months and then years went by and I wasn’t getting pregnant. Every doctor’s appointment brought more questions than answers. For the next 8 years, we struggled to understand. Meanwhile, I retreated further into myself, drowning in the guilt of knowing that I was the one ruining my husband’s chance to be a father. It became clear that, no matter how hard I wished and hoped, my body simply wasn’t doing what I wanted.
So, late on a Saturday night in a puddle of tears, I stood in the mirror and glared at myself with red-hot rage, hurling hateful judgments at the woman staring back at me.
“You are broken and absolutely useless.”
“The one thing your body is designed to do and you can’t get it right.”
“If you’re not here to be a mother, then why be here at all?”
That last question rang in my head as I stared at the woman in the mirror, expecting her to answer me. And then she did. In a moment of divine clarity, that woman in the mirror softened her face and said, “Right question. Wrong attitude. Try again.”
So, I took a deep breath and asked again. “If I’m not here to be a mother in the traditional sense, then why AM I here?”
What followed that night was a deep dive into what it means to be a woman, a healer, a leader, and yes… a mother. I found myself shedding layers of conditioning, judgments, and limiting beliefs to find a version of me that not only loved my body, but acknowledged Her as my source of intuition, creativity, and power. I wasn’t broken. What I’d been through was teaching me how to help other people develop this same nourishing connection with their own body’s wisdom, allowing them to create a life of purpose and inspired action. And so Wild Souls Healing was born.
For the past 7 years, I’ve been helping women rediscover and heal their Wild Soul. Using my teaching, counseling, and leadership experience from a 13-year career in education and counseling, I have connected with women from all over the world and created a powerful community of radical transformation.
To this day, my husband and I do not have any human children. But oh, how I have enjoyed stepping fully into my purpose as a different kind of Mother in a way I couldn’t have imagined. We are living our best lives with our magical furbabies, Lando and Cooper, surrounded by an incredible community of family and friends. And each morning, I look at that woman in the mirror and say, “Thank you for actually seeing me.”
