Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Jamie Chapman. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Jamie, appreciate you joining us today. We’d love to have you retell us the story behind how you came up with the idea for your business, I think our audience would really enjoy hearing the backstory.
The heart behind Chickbook Creative comes from my life experience of a family with neurodiversity and my career in running small to mid-size businesses for others.
I have spent 25 years supporting male-owned entrepreneurial endeavors. During the pandemic, I took a step back to reevaluate my core values, intention, and values. This is where my own entrepreneurial journey began. I blend my intrigue of the mind and my experience in how a neurodivergent brain functions with my business experience to support like-hearted women in business whose brains operate a little spicier.
Jamie, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
Human brains are all different. It can be challenging to navigate the square box of society when you identify more with being a round peg. That is where I come in. I understand your brain, I understand your business, and I’m here to help you bring your gift to the world without it costing your well-being while also becoming more profitable.
I support like-hearted humans who have been brave enough to start a business of their own and prove their concept is something that the market wants. They now want to grow, be profitable, and create more time to work ON their business rather than in their business.
Can you tell us about a time you’ve had to pivot?
My business experience stems from my knowledge of bookkeeping and accounting practices. I did business books and then found ways to streamline processes, develop inventory management systems, and create standard operating procedures. From there, I worked side by side with the business owner(s) as a C.O.O.
My business name Chickbook is a play-off of Quickbooks. I added creative because I am also a graduate of the Rhode Island School of Design for digital photography. (I am a retired family, wedding, and event photographer)
When I took a step out in 2020, I thought I would go back to doing business books and quickly realized I had more to offer.
Oh, hi, pivot. I see you.
We’d love to hear the story of how you built up your social media audience?
As a creative, I fell in love with designing for my business.
Social media gave me a large playground to be as creative as I want to be.
I have a group in which I foster community and use a springboard for my weekly Curated Conversations. Women from all over gather with me to talk deeply about a monthly topic. In week one, I introduce the topic, and we discuss its definition and what it means to us. Week Two, we discuss the word and how it affects your business as an entrepreneur. In week three, we discuss the topic and neuroscience, and the last week is the culmination of the month.
I also credit hiring a social media strategist early on. Serendipity Social Media was pivotal to knowing the ins and outs of the online space.
Committing to consistency and frequency of showing up digitally and socially online helped me quickly develop a like, know, and trust factor with other women in business.
