We were lucky to catch up with Jamie Catherine recently and have shared our conversation below.
Jamie, appreciate you joining us today. So, naming is such a challenge. How did you come up with the name of your brand?
My passion for the creative arts has led me in different directions over the years. In 2018, I had a epiphany, vision to start designing and creating notebooks, journals, and planners. This was sparked through my own personal battle with anxiety and depression.
Jamie, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
I am a creative writer and designer with the intentions of having specific notebooks manufactured in the future, along with journals and planners. Looking at the calendar year with a clear vision and hope. I’d eventually like to write a book of poetry. This was inspired through love, then sudden heartbreak with a special someone I had seen a long term future with; Simply Loving You is Poetry Enough. My notebooks will have a storyline assuming to be relatable and helping those to get out of their head and write more. Assume in the context of: Begin to take on a powerful affect, either with an encouraging quote or small story about overcoming and just becoming the person they were meant to be all along. Less is more. Although new planners and notebooks are coming out all the time, I’ve noticed a trend of others making them more complicated as they try to differentiate. These would stand out from the rest.
Is there mission driving your creative journey?
Being a voice for those who are still left silently sitting in the dark. My goal one day is to reach millions of people across the world. Especially through these Notebooks and writing poetry. There’s been such a stigma that comes with anxiety and depression. I’m putting something that’s been so negative and shamed throughout my life and turning it into something bigger than myself.
I believe Andy Warhol said it best, “The idea is not to live forever, but to create something that will.”
What’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative in your experience?
I think the most rewarding thing about being a creative is that the line of our work and passion should feel effortless. It’s an extension of us and truly is a gift. After living in Atlanta for 17 years, there was such a strong creative community here, and it was the perfect place to continue to grow, build on my dreams, and network. Meeting many other artists and creatives inspired me through my own personal journey. Every person I’ve ever met in my life was either a blessing or a lesson. This has allowed me to use every experience I’ve been through for my greatest good and encourage others through it all.
