We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Jamesia Monroe a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Jamesia, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. What did your parents do right and how has that impacted you in your life and career?
What my parents did right was that they instilled in me not to quit and to always finish what I start. I remember an experience I had in high school when I joined the track team as a freshman. All throughout elementary school and middle school, I was considered one of the fastest girls in running activities. When I got to high school, I soon realized that I stepped into a different league. I went from being the fastest to the slowest girl on the track team. My friends who joined track with me as a freshman eventually quit the track team because of how fast the girls were. I wanted to quit the track team as well, due to coming in last place at every track meet. I complained to my mother and she told me that I could not quit. I was so upset back then, because not only was I coming in last place in every track meet, I felt humiliated because I wasn’t any good.
Fast forward, I can honestly say, that I appreciate my mother for not allowing me to quit, despite my ego being bruised. The lesson that I learned was, that no matter how challenging something is, you stick to it. I learned that no matter what you think you know, there’s always another level, there’s always more to learn, and it’s okay if you’re not good at something; you always can become better at it as long as you don’t give up. What I didn’t realize was, that although I was looking at myself as being the slowest girl on the track team, I failed to realize that I was becoming faster, I was becoming stronger, I was competing with people out of my league, but at the same time, I was being pushed past my limits, and challenged on every level. At that time, I was too busy focusing on what was going on outside of myself and worrying about everyone around me, that I couldn’t see that I have grown in so many ways. I couldn’t appreciate the growth, because I was losing every race. In all actuality, I lost each race; however, I was learning valuable lessons that I apply in my life that have helped me be the woman I am today.
I can say that I apply this very mindset in my life and in my business. Although I am a small business owner, I surround myself around people who are several steps ahead of me, who are where I want to be, and who are making it happen for themselves and their businesses. With this understanding, I know that no matter the ups and downs I experience on my journey, I will not quit and I will see every project, opportunity, and experience to completion. I will continue to sharpen my personal and professional skills by putting myself in spaces and places that stretch me. I will remain a student of life and in my industry. In the words of my father, “nothing beats a failure, but a try.” No matter what the outcome is, no matter how many times I fall down, no matter how many setbacks I experience in life, I will brush myself off, stand up, and try again, but the next time I will use the lessons from the past to make better informed and wise decisions moving forward.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
Greetings Kemunity! My name is Jamesia Monroe and I am your Motivational Holistic Health Coach and Kemetic Yoga Teacher. I am the CEO & Founder of Kemunity Yoga. Kemunity Yoga is a Holistic Health Company that focuses on teaching you how to heal from Dis-Ease from the inside out. In the past, I use to deal with non-cancerous cysts on my ovaries which caused me to experience heavy, painful, and long menstrual cycles that would last for 3-weeks at a time. In the year 2020, I experienced a miracle. I was able to eliminate the cysts from my ovaries and as a by-product, my menstrual cycle went from 3-weeks to 7 days. After spending several years looking for an answer, from getting my Master’s Degree in Nutrition Education, going vegan, deepening my studies, and trying different home remedies and experiments on myself; I finally figured out how to find the answer to my solution. I went on a fast, but not just any fast, a liquid fast. I took a normal liquid fast system and added a few other variables. At the end of a 7 day fast, I was not the same person I was prior to starting the fast.

Kemuntiy Yoga is the answer to your problems.
When we understand the entire picture as a whole, we then can tackle the problem. In order to be healthy and well, we must consider the mental, physical, emotional, and spiritual aspects of a person. What sets Kemunity Yoga apart from others is that we focus on healing and health. We believe that in order for you to be healthy, you must heal; as you cannot spell the word health without the word heal. We are the only company that combines yoga, healing, plant-based foods, and juicing techniques that are based on the Chakra (Energy) System from an Ancient Egyptian perspective.
The reason why our students and clients decide to work with us is that they are tired of doing things on their own, they tried everything under the sun, they want to see consistent results, and/or they care about their health, and just need a little guidance on their health journey.
What we are most proud of are the lives we have touched by educating our followers, viewers, and potential clients on our social media platforms. We love seeing posts that state, “I am considering making a change,” “thank you for sharing, I had no idea,” or “your programs have changed my life.” Whether you purchase a digital product, attend a virtual class, or follow our social media platforms; you will always gain valuable information and helpful tips that can be applied to your life immediately. Kemunity Yoga is all about educating our Kemunity on alternative ways to become healthy and well.
Do you think you’d choose a different profession or specialty if you were starting now?
If I could go back, I would still choose the same profession in the health and wellness industry. I am very passionate about helping people become healthy and well. My ultimate goal is to help increase the quality of life for the people in my community. Did you know that the leading cause of death in the United States is Heart Disease? African Americans are 3 times more likely to experience heart disease than any other group of people. Currently, there is a health disparity in our nation and in our communities. I represent a company that will play a part in helping our nation and underserved communities to live healthier lives and become more proactive about their current health conditions. If more people truly knew that the medicine is in our food and once we change our mindset and habits; then we can begin to thrive and live healthier and longer lives.

Can you tell us about what’s worked well for you in terms of growing your clientele?
Considering that we are in a national mental health crisis, Health & Wellness professionals are needed more than ever at an alarming rate. The most effective strategy for growing my clientele is via social media. I found that my platform not only reaches people in the nation but also across the globe. Educating on how to be healthy and providing alternative ways to experience EASE as opposed to Dis-EASE has helped me grow my social media platforms and clientele. I believe it’s important for my knowledge and wisdom to be shared with as many people as possible so that we can begin to see a change in the climate of our health status as a nation.
