We were lucky to catch up with James Worthy recently and have shared our conversation below.
Hi James, thanks for joining us today. We’d love to hear about when you first realized that you wanted to pursue a creative path professionally.
Well I am from Queens, New York so growing up in a fast city that exuded creativity, culture, and music it was also around me. I found myself becoming somewhat of a nerd when it came to music, because I enjoyed all genre’s. I remember going to record stores every weekend to buy an album, and read the credits to see who did what. Once I started doing that I got really interested in songwriting first which then turned into music production locally. One of the big moments at a young age was when I had the opportunity to meet Michael Jackson in New York. I was one of the biggest MJ fans so having that opportunity was golden, and was pretty much the spark for me to say that I really need to take music seriously as a career.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
My name is James Worthy, I am a Recording Artist, Music Producer, Songwriter, Actor, and Business Owner. I pretty much started in the industry at age 16 starting off with songwriting. Throughout my career what has set me apart from other people is my versatility, and consistency within different genre’s, and styles of artists older or younger. Also transitioning into a solo artist has been an interesting, but amazing journey as well which isn’t the easiest thing to do. I think that has given me much more experience and respect from people as well. I’m proud of all the things I have accomplished in music, and business which are all blessings in themselves. Most recently I have announced my newest brand entitled “Tasty Notes” which is an event brand, my 2nd venture is “3 Kingdoms” which is a global sports agency, and of course the “James Worthy” brand.

In your view, what can society to do to best support artists, creatives and a thriving creative ecosystem?
In the space that we are in for creatives, and musicians can be tough at times. The lack of resources or lack of traveling can pro long the process of product, and content most times. I believe supporting creatives in different aspects is what helps us win. For example continuing to support, buy, promote, and share our content via social media, spreading the word to the masses, and actually being present at the shows to support the art as it is displayed live. All of these things are what help creatives become better and greater at what they do.
We’d love to hear your thoughts on NFTs. (Note: this is for education/entertainment purposes only, readers should not construe this as advice)
I believe NFT’s are a new way to showcase new, and old art in a new digital way. I think its a creative marketing strategy that can help never before seen product be seen as well. I myself have been learning the landscape of the concept to enter the world.
