We were lucky to catch up with Jakes Puryear recently and have shared our conversation below.
Hi James, thanks for joining us today. When did you first know you wanted to pursue a creative/artistic path professionally?
I first knew that I wanted to pursue music professionally at the age of 14 I seen the power that music had over my life the freedom of expressing myself with no consequences of being judged or belittle for enduring the life I had been cursed and blessed with
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
I provide an antidepressant to my audience something that can calm they nerves by knowing someone can relate and have the comfort of speaking out I hate that it’s people that can relate but I make music to talk about and make people aware of l the dark side of being in and coming from impoverished areas.
Is there mission driving your creative journey?
My goal is to accomplish generational wealth so my creative journey and the thirst for success been having me In a choke hold i desperately just wanna win I’m tired of being tired of not being able to provide comfortably for my family.
What’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative in your experience?
The most rewarding aspect of creating music is the love you get for being a voice I’m a advocate of the ghetto environment I had to endure we speak and make America aware of unfortunate situations so make we can get treated with the respect and the decency we so overly whelming deserved
