Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to James Leveque. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Alright, James thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Looking back, do you think you started your business at the right time? Do you wish you had started sooner or later
Definitely wish I would of started this business sooner. I started in Financial Services about 4 years ago. I was working in the Boston Public School System and was for a way to make extra income. Honestly I wish I would’ve taken it a lot more serious once I got in this industry. I played around with it, worrying about what people would think of me or if they would support my new venture. The fear of worrying about what others think of you is a real thing, once I was able to get past all that head trash that’s when I started making things happen. I would not change anything about my experience. Everything happens at the right time & that was my journey.

James , love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
My name is James Leveque, and I have had the privilege of being a Educator in Boston School Public Schools for 11 years. Being a financial service provider entailed working closely with individuals, families, and businesses to offer a range of financial solutions and guidance. As a financial service provider, my primary goal is to help clients achieve their financial objectives and improve their overall financial well-being.
Throughout this journey, I noticed a pressing issue – the lack of financial knowledge among many individuals, including students and underserved populations. This realization sparked a strong desire within me to make a positive impact in people’s lives by empowering them with essential financial literacy skills.
Motivated by this passion, I embarked on a new path and became a Financial Service Provider. Along this journey, I had the privilege of co-founding the “Talk2Em Guide to Financial Literacy” program, an initiative specifically tailored to support and uplift underserved communities in the vibrant city of Boston. Our mission is to bridge the gap and provide accessible, practical, and relevant financial education to empower individuals and families to make informed and confident financial decisions.
Through the “Talk2Em Guide to Financial Literacy,” we aim to equip individuals with the necessary tools and knowledge to navigate the complex world of personal finance successfully. By empowering our participants with financial literacy, we envision a brighter and more secure future for the communities we serve. Together, we strive to foster financial independence and promote a thriving, financially literate society.
I also enjoy my weekly podcast called “Talk2EmJay” that covers a wide array of topics, including self-help, pop culture, music, education, fashion, and relationships. With a keen focus on demonstrating how each of these aspects plays a vital role in achieving financial success, the podcast provides a holistic perspective on personal growth and financial well-being. Join us on “Talk2Em Jay” as we delve into meaningful discussions and explore the interconnectedness of various life elements that contribute to building a prosperous and fulfilling future.

How’d you meet your business partner?
During a pivotal moment of change in my life, I had the opportunity to meet the co-founder of Talk2Em. Dr. Anj, with her expertise in public health, brought a unique and insightful perspective to our Financial Literacy Program. Our shared vision and like-mindedness in wanting to make a positive impact on our community strengthened our partnership.
How did you build your audience on social media?
Building an audience on social media can be a gradual process, and it requires time, effort, and consistency. Some of the things that helped me was to,
Identify Your Target Audience: Understand who your target audience is and what kind of content they are interested in. Tailor your content to resonate with their preferences, needs, and pain points.
Choose the Right Platforms: Focus on the social media platforms where your target audience is most active. Each platform has its unique characteristics and user demographics, so choose the ones that align with your content and goals.
Be Consistent: Consistency is key to building a loyal audience. Develop a content schedule and stick to it, so your followers know when to expect new posts or updates from you.
Interact and Engage: Social media is a two-way street. Respond to comments, messages, and mentions from your audience. Engage with them by asking questions, running polls, and encouraging discussions.
Be Authentic and Transparent: People appreciate authenticity. Share your journey, challenges, and successes with your audience. Being transparent builds trust and strengthens the connection with your followers.
Stay Positive and Patient: Building a social media audience takes time, and there will be ups and downs along the way. Stay positive, learn from your experiences, and be patient with the growth process.
