We were lucky to catch up with James Jacob Pierri recently and have shared our conversation below.
James Jacob , thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. So, naming is such a challenge. How did you come up with the name of your brand?
AusetGypsy has garnered much attention over the years. Love it or hate it, it’s here to stay. The name was a gift actually, from a friend and also my manager. At the time we worked with/at Islands Of Adventure Universal Orlando Florida some 25 years ago! We opened the first Fortune Telling venue at a major theme park- entertainment destination since Walt Disney chose to skip this metaphysical activity with the advent of Disney land 50 years prior. Needless to say we were and still are a popular experience at IOA. We wore elaborate Sinbad movie style costumes reflecting the fantasy-esque surroundings we worked in. Then a time came to wear name tags, I was not fond of the idea whatsoever! So in a creative attempt to remedy this nuance my friend created an exotic nickname of sorts, handed me an ornate box with a name tag in it which read AusetGypsy. Even I skied “ what is this?”. She responded “ It’s YOUR brand!”. Auset is the French iteration of the ancient Egyptian Goddess name Isis and Gypsy because as she claimed I was there house gypsy ( due to my background). Isis has always been my muse and there it was, my brand. Along with the that she created my first website and another friend dated my first logo. After that moment I took this beautiful gift an did create my own brand and the rest is history.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
If you’re unfamiliar with AusetGypsy or James Jacob Pierri, let’s catch you up on 25 years of history.
Even before AusetGypsy was established I had already been practicing the art of Tarot for almost 10 years professionally. This was long before social media existed and I had to hit the streets, bars, events and tour metaphysical shops nationally and even internationally. The relationship began at home of course due to belief and practice already being embedded in our culture. Practicing professionally allowed me to also peruse music and art careers and especially school. Graduating with certifications in anatomy & physiology, Ayurvedic medicine, aromatherapy and herbalism. Combing all of these skills and talents created the ultimate in spiritual and holistic well being experience. A one person powerhouse delivering top notch services to clients. Along the way four public locations /shops, becoming a certified yoga instructor, published Horoscope columns in international style/fashion magazines , host of tv, radio and podcast shows opened more and more doors to the public creating a positive reputation and familiarity of the brand AusetGypsy.
Two publishing deals that made AusetGypsy a worldwide name expanded its reach. The AusetGypsy Tarot Deck & Book set along with Tarot Training Sleeves, an interactive Tarot training/learning system both published by REDfeather MBS..
At the center of all of this still lays and remains the true purpose of my mission: Solutions or SOUL’utions.
The client and their needs comes first, people come to me with their most sensitive quandaries, in need of alternative POV and solutions to help them take their next steps. They come for holistic wellbeing and spiritual centeredness. I’m here to assist them in finding ways, that they ultimately choose on their own.
Combining all the skills acquired over the decades , tried and trued remedies and suggestions to help make life magical and balanced.

What do you think helped you build your reputation within your market?
Reputation is key and vital to any thriving and successful industry. What that means individually to each business of course varies. In my business reputation relies on being personal and consistent. What does that mean? My clients require one one attention and their concerns come first. I see each person as a different story and handle each one uniquely, there certainly is no one size fits all with what I do. Staying consistent with each client is important , being available and in touch is what keeps clients coming back.
Reputation within and from other businesses is important too, even if those businesses are not completely in the same field. I see AusetGypsy as a service industry and that means depending on other businesses to refer mine to their clients when presented with a referral in Tarot, spiritual or holistic needs. You never know where a referral might come from. Another tactic is dealing with those unfortunate or unsavory individuals who try to undermine your reputation too for what ever means, jealousy, competition, disposition. It’s not widely talked about because it seems “negative” but it’s important to remember eyes are always watching ! How you combat unpleasant reputation response is as important as presenting good reputation. People will remember how a situation was dealt with, if they see you deal with negative actions with a positive reaction that reflects greatly on your part. I have faced all these challenges in one form or another. It’s part and parcel of business since time immemorial.

Can you tell us about what’s worked well for you in terms of growing your clientele?
We gain new clientele and lose some older ones, that’s life right? I find being visual in the public at events and putting my self at the crossroads of public interaction where they would usually expect to find services like Tarot etc works best. I don’t want to take people out of their comfort zone, I enjoy and find it most beneficial to meet clientele in their environment. Whereas some might not find it appealing to meander through a metaphysical shop to get Tarot service, they really do want to do it! So meeting new clients halfway helps so much. Social media can help too, but in my experience n this trade, it’s still the face to face method that works. Believe it or not social media has not been my strongest asset, I may be the last in a tiny demographic that doesn’t rely on social media for my success. It does help keep in touch with clients in a personal way.
