We recently connected with James David Tabor and have shared our conversation below.
Hi James David, thanks for joining us today. If you could go back in time do you wish you had started your creative career sooner or later?
I lost feel like this is a trick question. I had show interest in photography and other arts even as a young kid. I developed some of my skills in High School but collage just wasn’t in the cards. Especially something more focused like art school. I restarted my journey in my 40’s with more focus and honestly money to put into my craft.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
My main focus is on analog photography. I found my niche in some respects by ignoring digital the last 20 years. I love darkroom printing and developing my own film. Digital does have a place in my work flow with clients, but when it comes to my self and what I thing my own work should look like; then it film all the way.
How did you build your audience on social media?
In the beginning there can be a trap of following a bunch of people really fast and then dropping followers to look good. I personally still believe in engagement. This takes more time, but it is worth it. Quality following and follows matter.

For you, what’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative?
I think when someone you respect likes your work back.
