We caught up with the brilliant and insightful James Dale a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
James , looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. Can you share a story about the kindest thing someone has done for you and why it mattered so much or was so meaningful to you?
The kindest thing anyone has done is tell me I was wrong. In school, a professor (who will remain nameless) gave us an assignment to create an original twist on a familiar story. I rewrote the story of Lott and his family in the Bible.
My instructor did not like the premise of my story because it alluded to incest, like the original story. I was initially reluctant to rewrite the story to be a lot more politically correct.
By challenging me, it allowed me to test my resolve and my ability as a writer.

James Dale is a Jamaican American Entrepreneur, Screenwriter, Editor, Radio Personality, and Independently-Published Author. His works can be found online at Smashwords.com, Amazon.com, or wherever Ebooks are sold.
He earned his Bachelor of Fine Arts in Creative Writing at Full Sail University.
He also started a natural juice company with his coworker.
James drives city buses in Hartford, CT; in his spare time, he posts videos of his podcast called Creative’s Corner on his YouTube channel.
Is there a particular goal or mission driving your creative journey?
What drives me is the process of creating an original story. I aim to become a staff writer for a television series and/or a screenplay writer.
Can you share a story from your journey that illustrates your resilience?
In the summer of 2022, I fell ill, was hospitalized, and was diagnosed with MS. I had four courses left in my bachelor’s degree program. Against my neurologist’s and my family’s advice, I stayed in school and finished school on time.
