Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Metta Mane. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Metta, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Can you talk to us about how you learned to do what you do?
i started making beats and writing lyrics in 2020, i knew i needed to outsource for recording/mixing and even beat making cus those were things getting in the way of my writing. i made sure to have complete songs before outsourcing cus the key to becoming a better songwriter is being self sufficient at the start and as much as possible. when i had my own recordings it was easier to get producers to want to offer beats to me. shout out producer @mane.mikey_ songwriting is my main focus now and i exercise that muscle as much as i can.
Metta, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
i’m from south texas my wave is smooth and convicting. i bring a fresh spin on texas rap, focusing on style and good energy just like most the people do who are from round these parts of texas and san antonio. i make music to feel good to while you hustle and grind.
We’d love to hear a story of resilience from your journey.
i think my biggest and best trait is my ability to make things happen, i’ll pull together a situation and make it work. making beats and songs on my own wasn’t easy but i made sure to make those songs as good as they could be so i could get producers and other artist to see the vision and want to be apart of it. just a few months in to knowing new producers and artists i started hosting studio sessions in my garage and we’ve been cooking there every week since. making my place the nucleus of the clique has made everyone better and pushes all of us to come correct each week.
What can society do to ensure an environment that’s helpful to artists and creatives?
don’t forget artists are just people, the biggest artist in the world to the dude just making beats and lyrics in his garage are human. you can support the dude in the garage the same way as the biggest artist, but that support carries a lot further with the dude in the garage.
