We recently connected with Jamelle Zablow-Moloney and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Jamelle, thanks for joining us today. It’s always helpful to hear about times when someone’s had to take a risk – how did they think through the decision, why did they take the risk, and what ended up happening. We’d love to hear about a risk you’ve taken.
It’s funny how life divides your roads and forces you to choose in ways that set you up for future success, unbeknownst to our current, in-the-moment selves. Before I decided to enter into my Bachelor’s and Master’s studies to become a teacher, I struggled to find a career option that would both support my curiosity of Spirit and help me financially support the family I eventually wanted to have. I know I wanted to contribute to society in a meaningful way while shining light on my artistic side. Teaching seemed to be the most sturdy option I had. Starting my career as a special education teacher, I was convinced I would retire from this position, slugging along with minimal fulfillment and stress that didn’t seem to fit my story. The profession was rewarding, and working with students was one of my dreams, but the industry placed a burden upon me that had me convinced that I was trapped in a corner. Now I know better.
In 2020, the entire world and the public school system shut down. Like the rest of my colleagues, I finished our school year teaching online. It was evident that, with two children of my own now learning at home, the status quo of my husband and I holding full-time jobs wasn’t going to cut it. The stress became insurmountable, and so we took a chance. My husband quit his 9-5 at the local college to use his degree as a Wind Turbine Technician, and I quit teaching to find peace and to support my family from a place of wholeness and calm.
This is when Bare Roots Energy was born. With these singular decisions, my life and the lives of my family members began to shift ever so slightly in the direction we all wanted to go. As the stress fell away, our relationships began to improve. As I began to use my training in Reiki and Meditation on a daily basis, our habits began to change. Then, as I began to see clients, I became the role model for my daughters that I truly wanted to be; one that gives without condition, one that supports my community through love rather than necessity, and one that lives intentionally through everyday, every word, every action, and every thought.
The chance I took in opening Bare Roots Energy, my Reiki and Meditation studio, was one that I did not think about but rather jumped in blindly towards, and with unconditional trust in the process of faith and hard work. Today, unlike the days leading up to my decision to become a teacher, I listen to my gut, analyze my possibilities, and take right action in the direction of forward momentum and coexisting growth. Today I follow my dreams so that my daughters and every client I come in contact with can be inspired to do the same, and for that, I am grateful for all of the turns I have traveled down my journey.
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
My name is Jamelle Zablow-Moloney. I grew up in a home of spirituality, studying the mystery schools with my father and seeking all of the hidden secrets the Universe had to offer right here in the Midwest. My journey with Reiki began in 2006 when I experienced great trauma and sought relief on a Soul-healing level. I was blessed with a Reiki Master in Manhattan, Kansas, while I was studying my undergrad in special education. Through her, I learned that I had already been practicing energy healing on myself, what Reiki in its specifics actually was, and that there was a possibility to live with Spirit in my foreground rather than in my background.
With this history in Spirituality, when the time was right, I jumped into the industry with the skills I knew and could do well: Reiki, Meditation, and Teaching. Today, I work through Bare Roots Energy to provide a variety of energy healing services and courses, Meditation coaching, teaching and writing, Plant-Based Medicine consultation, and life path services. With the services that I offer, my clients benefit by finding ways to:
*incorporate balance, perspective, and peaceful decision-making into their daily lives,
*keep their energy bodies clear and healed,
*uncover the blockages that have been holding them back, and
*find the truths that their inner selves seek to work through.
Services I provide include traditional Reiki healing, Reiki courses, Meditation coaching, and courses, energy healing through the Crystalline Consciousness Technique (TM), Plant-Based Medicine consultation for individuals who wish to incorporate more homeopathic elements into their routines, Life Path, and Birth Chart readings, and a variety of online groups and courses that incorporate all of these mentioned elements.
In April of this year, I finally published my first book, The Meditation Manual, which provides a pathway for a stable meditation practice for the wandering mind. This book is also offered as an online course on my website and is a great option for individuals who find themselves overstressed or live with ADD and ADHD. The Meditation Manual covers multiple types of meditation with over 40 specific techniques to practice on your way to mastering the calm!
Other than training/knowledge, what do you think is most helpful for succeeding in your field?
Working in the field of alternative healing, I have found that beyond book smarts, it is most important to get to know my clients on a personal level. The type of healing I provide is, in a way, therapeutic, which sets the stage for my clients to empty their cups when they come to see me. To accomplish this, I stay open, neutral, empathetic, and willing to take chances with them and with my business, which other practitioners of more traditional healing modalities are unable to do.
Learning and unlearning are both critical parts of growth – can you share a story of a time when you had to unlearn a lesson?
As a new business owner, I have had to unravel the old stories that taught me how “money is scarce and hard to make.” I am actually still unraveling that story. Without unwavering trust in the inevitable, money can be hard to make. I’ve also had to adjust my thinking about what a real career is. I grew up convinced that I needed an expensive degree and a ‘staple’ job in order to be happy. This could not have been further from the truth. Being a business owner means taking risks and having self-faith, and being happy in your day-to-day job means following your heart regardless of how many strange looks you get along the way!
