Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Jameka | Hart . We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Jameka | , appreciate you joining us today. Can you open up about a risk you’ve taken – what it was like taking that risk, why you took the risk and how it turned out?
“Go ahead honey, take a chance.” – A quote I took directly from Eddie Murphy’s “Coming To America”. And it’s been my motto ever since (ask about my dating life). I was 1st led to radio by encouragement of a fellow radio personality to put my voice on the air. She said, “u have a voice for radio”. Before that i never thought about it or even liked how I sounded for that much. Fast forward myself & others helped to pioneer what’s now known as podcasting before its time. It was risky bc we had no real idea what we were doing. No model to follow, jus vibes & some innovative people. What made me special is that I am a real person to so many. Seeing me able to thrive and keep pushing the envelope forward encouraged so many others to follow suit. Also making me a trendsetter and accidental influencer. WWCD(what would cookie do)

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers
I’ve always had an eye for fashion and it was initially what created my popularity. But I also have an AMAZING personality & that’s ultimately what sealed my transition into media. I was hosting a fashion show & Fresh Johnson who was a media phenom spoke these words to me “u have a voice for radio”. And a lightbulb went off instantly. Later that year, I was approached to join a show already in progress called “Real Talk Radio.” There I started a segment turned spinoff “The Cookie Jar”. Which led to tons of success including its very own radio station. Fast forward a ton of years, I am back as an author and I practice and encourage self everything 1st by way of my platforms which include “The Jus Cookie Show” (returning this summer)
Are there any books, videos, essays or other resources that have significantly impacted your management and entrepreneurial thinking and philosophy?
I am a reader and I love books. So much so I’m now writing my own. “Cook Tales Vol: 1 The Early Years” is coming!!!! One of my favorite books I’ve read and always like to share with others, The Alchemist” by Paulo Coehlo a book great for readers on a journey to find themselves. The book has so many twists and turns and was jus a great read overall. The other is “Four Agreements”, which I catch myself always having to remind myself not to take things personally. My empathic nature feels everything around me so that can ne very hard.

We often hear about learning lessons – but just as important is unlearning lessons. Have you ever had to unlearn a lesson?
I’ve had to unlearn a ton actually. For example the one of the book’s I mentioned. “four agreements”, by Don Miguel Ruiz, the agreement that says “be impeccable be your word”. I struggled with that bc I TALK A LOT!!! Sometimes, nope, all of the times, the universe is listening. And will send challenges your way to see if you’ll honor what you said. That taught me to be careful with my words. But not before unlearning what I thought the agreement meant. I took it to meant to keep my words to others and to a degree or does but not if it goes against the agreement you made with yourself fist. Me over everything.
