We recently connected with Jameice Cockrell and have shared our conversation below.

Hi Jameice, thanks for joining us today. It’s always helpful to hear about times when someone’s had to take a risk – how did they think through the decision, why did they take the risk, and what ended up happening. We’d love to hear about a risk you’ve taken.

This particular project Mindset Ep Justyn Iman (Writer & Vocalist) and my self took a lot of risks. Yoshi Music Production Worldwide had never had a meditation affirmation artist before so this was a new experience. Everything was a risk, we both knew it would be great risks with great reward because we both went into this project with purpose! It has received thousands of streams and AMC Hoffman 22 sponsored the premiere of the Mindset short film. This piece has touched so many lives and has been mentally healthy and medicine for all listeners and viewers.

It all began with Justyn Iman (Writer & Vocalist) speaking life into our youth and communities all over the world and then the pandemic hit and everyone including the youth was inside and Justyn & I knew we had to continue to heal our communities hearts and minds. So Justyn began to write and the rest is history.

Creative and visionary Film Director with 10 years of career experience working primarily for independent film companies. Displays excellent communication and decision-making skills. I have been told many times I am inspirational, a team player, inviting and motivating. The impact sometimes exists just through the energy given by myself and team. Team work makes the dream work, I always prefer to work with a team although I can get the work done as an individual as well. Working well as part of a team, we
will carry out the mission every time. My advice today would definitely be leaning into those vulnerable, uncomfortable feelings because it could help keep you motivated and make progress toward all your goals.

Let’s talk about resilience next – do you have a story you can share with us?

Growing up my family was very loving and I always felt like my father should have been in my life more and of course attentive to his first child. I went through a lot of trauma due to the lack of my fathers presence in my life. Later on, I realized that due to his absence I have been able to learn myself and how strong I really am. The relationship between us started to get better once I got better, and I can honestly say we are at our best however we are constantly trying and that’s always a great start. I am beyond proud of myself because it takes a lot out of a person to forgive without an apology. This has always been motivation to become bigger than I once was.

For you, what’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative?

The most rewarding is to be able to think for myself and create what I see and feel. Absolutely the best feeling in the world!
