Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Jameece William. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Hi Jameece, thanks for joining us today. Risk taking is something we’re really interested in and we’d love to hear the story of a risk you’ve taken.
I took a risk starting a tequila brand. Most people start boutiques, hair, lashes, nails, and etc. I always wanted to be different and bring something different to not only my hometown, but to other places as well. In 2021 while I was out on vacation. I was drinking tequila at the bar and it was harsh, burned, and aftertaste. I said to myself why don’t I start my own tequila brand. Bring something different, unique, and can relate to people out there. Most tequilas have the Mexican name. I wanted a name that’s different and stands out. I took a risk doing this because you don’t know if it will work or not. I believed in myself and told myself this will work. I started the process all by myself. Being in a dominate male industry it is not easy. As a woman you have to prove yourself a little bit more harder than men. I could have easily gave up and said no I’m not doing it. I decided to take that leap and create Wanna Taste Tequila.

Jameece, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
I’m a female who came from 9-5 jobs. I didn’t come from a rich family. When I first started my tequila brand. I was funding it all by myself. I would work two jobs or one job and work so much overtime. I would be so tired some days but I kept pushing for this brand. I would tell people that if you want something go for it. Don’t stop even if people tell you not to do it. Go for it prove them wrong and step out on faith.
Business discipline definitely don’t spend all your money wants it starts rolling in. Be smart about it and save.
What sets me apart from others is that my tequilas are smooth, no aftertaste, no harshness, and no hangover. My tequilas you can make a drink, or a shot, and be able to sip it without any harshness.
The name itself, and the packaging, sets me apart from others.
We have two type of tequilas. We have blanco and we have reposado.
I’m most proud of myself when it comes to taking a risk and believing in myself. This was not an easy journey. It was times where I said to myself it’s hard. But I liked that it was hard because it gave me a challenge. Im proud to be the first African American in Ohio with her own tequila brand.

Can you talk to us about how your funded your business?
When I first started my tequila brand. I really didn’t realize how much it would cost. I funded my business by working 9-5 jobs. I would work overtime as a correctional officer to pay for my business.
