We recently connected with Jamar Greshh and have shared our conversation below.
Jamar, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Before we get into specifics, let’s talk about success more generally. What do you think it takes to be successful?
I believe success comes down to consistency. I’ve seen a clear difference in my own journey. When I am consistently creating and sharing my work, things grow. Opportunities come, engagement builds, and I feel momentum. But when I slip into a season of isolation or stop showing up, that growth stalls.
The real shift for me happened when I started noticing that the biggest difference between me and the people I admire wasn’t talent. It was consistency. They just started and kept showing up. That changed my mindset completely. We often watch people in the positions we want to be in and wonder what sets them apart. The truth is, they just started. So why can’t I?
Success isn’t about waiting for the perfect moment. It’s about showing up every day, being visible, and taking one step at a time. That’s how I continue to grow and build the life I want.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
I’m a Southern California based photographer and videographer focused on fashion, portrait, branding, product, event, and commercial work. I’ve always been about visual storytelling, capturing not just what something looks like, but what it feels like. The love of creating visuals is what pulled me into this world, and it’s still what drives me today.
Before I got into the creative space full time, I served in the military. After spending way too many days in 130-degree heat refueling aircraft, I had a moment where I realized this isn’t what I wanted to do with the rest my life. I knew I wanted to be building something creative, turning my ideas into visuals that actually make people feel something. From that point on, I did everything I could to set myself up for the future I really wanted.
Since that eye opening realization , I’ve worked with celebrity clients, taken on brand partnerships, and even worked on a short film that got shopped around Hollywood. In my 9-to-5, I lead creative production for a global company, developing product campaigns, shooting marketing videos, and editing paid media content. I’m involved from concept to final cut, making sure every part of the process is on point and true to the brands identity.
Outside of that, I also work with individual clients and brands to help them elevate their social media presence. I love creating content that inspires, helps drive purchase decisions, or just has fun with the latest trends. Whether it’s a reel, a photoset, or a campaign rollout, I’m here to make sure it connects and feels intentional.
What sets me apart is that I really listen. I care about the details and I want my clients to feel seen, heard, and proud of what we create together. For me, it’s not just about the visuals it’s about creating work that’s thoughtful, aligned, and actually makes an impact.

We’d love to hear the story of how you turned a side-hustle into a something much bigger.
When I was in the military, I used every excuse I could to pick up my camera and build my portfolio. One of the first creative wins I had was designing a squadron coin, which ended up influencing the unit’s T-shirt and logo. That opened the door for more opportunities, I started filming and photographing military ceremonies and events, which eventually led to people asking me for private sessions like family portraits and maternity shoots.
In those early days, I did a lot of work for free. Late nights, unpaid gigs, and just grinding to build a body of work that felt real. But that foundation gave me the credibility, experience, and confidence I needed to grow. Now, I’m at a point where I can be selective about the creative projects I take on. Since I also get to express my creativity in my 9-to-5, I have the freedom to choose work that aligns with my vision and say no to anything that doesn’t.
To anyone out there chasing a passion, my advice is simple: Keep going. Keep creating. Keep pushing. Your big break is closer than you think, and sometimes it takes a hundred no’s before you get that one yes that changes everything.

How did you build your audience on social media?
I built my audience on social media by not being afraid to look a little corny, weird, or different. I stopped worrying about what people might think and just started showing up as my full self. And honestly, that’s what made the difference. I love my audience because I can post something totally random or funny and they still rock with me.
I’m a husband and a dad of three, so some days you’ll see me with my family, taking spontaneous trips, grilling in the backyard, or trying out a new recipe. Other days, I’m deep in creative mode sharing photography and video content. Mixing real-life moments with my work helps people connect with me not just as a business, but as a real person.
Most of my engagement happens in stories and DMs. People hit me up for advice, encouragement, or just to talk, and I always keep my messages open. I think what’s helped me grow is being consistent, being genuine, and not being afraid to show my personality. That’s what people connect with.
Also, do not be afraid to go outside and touch grass. For real. Put the phone down, have actual conversations, and don’t hesitate to exchange info. Some of my best connections have come from five-minute conversations with strangers that turned into real relationships. Anytime I’m out, I challenge myself to connect with at least two people and trade Instagram handles or contact info. You never know who’s watching your work or who might end up booking you just because you took the time to connect.
If you’re just starting, my biggest advice is to show up, be yourself, talk to people, and don’t overthink it. Your personality is your superpower. Use it.
