We recently connected with Jamal Hansen and have shared our conversation below.
Jamal, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. Can you share a customer success story with us?
When I first sat down with Sean, it wasn’t just another client meeting—it was a conversation with a good friend. Sean is a sharp, driven IT Executive at the helm of a company generating over $20M in Annual Recurring Revenue (ARR). Professionally, he was thriving. But financially, there was a recurring pain point that kept coming up in our conversations: taxes.
Sean was paying over $1 million a year in taxes. Despite working relentlessly and building tremendous value within his company, he was frustrated. “I feel like I’m doing everything right, but the IRS still wins,” he told me. Like many high-income earners, he had a CPA filing his returns, but no one was showing him how to strategically reduce his tax liability.
That’s when we got to work.
We performed a comprehensive review of his financial structure and created a tax strategy tailored specifically to his situation. Our game plan included:
Establishing a Tax-Advantaged Corporation (TAC) to reclassify income into a more favorable structure
Setting up a qualified retirement plan to allow six-figure tax-deferred contributions
Implementing a premium-financed life insurance strategy that turned taxable dollars into tax-free legacy wealth
Leveraging cost segregation and real estate depreciation to offset capital gains
Introducing oil and gas investments that provided powerful upfront deductions and long-term cash flow
Within the first year of implementing the plan, everything changed. Sean’s tax burden didn’t just shrink—it flipped. The IRS actually owed him money at the end of the year.
I’ll never forget that call. He said, “Bro… I never thought I’d see the day where I’m not cutting the IRS a massive check.” It was a win—not just financially, but emotionally. He felt empowered, finally in control of his wealth instead of watching it disappear.
What makes this story so meaningful to me isn’t just the result—it’s that I got to help a close friend transform his financial future. Sean’s now building wealth with intention, protecting what he’s earned, and playing offense with his money instead of defense.
That’s what this work is all about: helping people you care about win—on their terms.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
My name is Jamal Hansen, and I wear a few different hats—entrepreneur, financial strategist, corporate advisor, and founder of OTAON Holdings Group Inc., a Beverly Hills-based company focused on accelerating the growth of talent and companies through financial strategy, creative capital, and culture-driven business.
My journey into this space wasn’t a straight line—it was forged through lived experience, resilience, and the refusal to settle for the conventional. I started as an independent recording artist and creative, which gave me an early front-row seat to the intersection of culture, business, and finance. I experienced the highs and lows of monetizing talent, building a brand, and trying to navigate wealth without a roadmap. That lived experience laid the foundation for everything I’ve built since.
Today, OTAON is a vertically integrated firm offering services across entertainment, financial services, wealth management, brand development, executive search, venture strategy, media production, and more. Whether we’re working with a high-income business owner looking to reduce a six-figure tax burden, a founder seeking capital and clarity, or a creator looking to structure their IP into generational wealth—we solve the problem of how to turn income into impact, and success into sustainability.
One of our core offerings is advanced tax strategy and wealth planning, especially for business owners, doctors, real estate investors, entertainers, and high-growth entrepreneurs. Through tools like Tax-Advantaged Corporations (TACs), qualified retirement plans, cost segregation, oil and gas investing, and premium-financed life insurance, we help clients legally reduce their tax bills and grow long-term, generational wealth.
What sets us apart is how we integrate culture and capital. We’re not just financial advisors—we’re architects of ecosystems. We understand the nuance of brand, story, structure, and the emotional psychology of wealth. Most firms will offer services. We build strategies—and more importantly, we build trust.
What I’m most proud of is the transformation we create. I’ve helped clients go from paying the IRS hundreds of thousands to receiving money back. I’ve helped people reclaim control of their finances, their legacies, and their peace of mind. And I’ve done it while honoring the human side of money—not just the math.
For anyone discovering me or OTAON for the first time, here’s what I want you to know:
We believe your business should work for you—not the other way around.
We lead with purpose, strategy, and heart.
And we’re not here to sell you a product—we’re here to build a blueprint for the life you’re meant to live.
Whether you’re a high-performing executive, a creative visionary, or someone who’s built something valuable and is now asking, “What’s next?”—we’re here to help you answer that with clarity, strategy, and intention.
Let’s build something real.

Can you share a story from your journey that illustrates your resilience?
There’s a chapter in my story that few people know, but it shaped everything I’ve become.
Years ago, before founding OTAON Holdings Group Inc., before advising high-net-worth clients, and long before I was building vertically integrated ventures—I hit a wall. Like many ambitious people, I’d been grinding nonstop, trying to make something out of nothing. But along the way, I got caught up in a lifestyle that didn’t serve me. I was battling personal demons—substance abuse, burnout, and instability. I had legal issues from my past that seemed to follow me like a shadow. It felt like I had all the potential in the world but no structure, no guidance, and no real plan.
I remember a specific moment, sitting in a small apartment, with my bank account nearly empty, wondering how someone like me—creative, talented, driven—could still feel stuck. That moment of raw honesty forced me to choose: keep spiraling, or build something meaningful from the mess.
I chose the latter.
I went all in on my personal development. I cleaned up my lifestyle. I got focused on building systems, not just hustle. I studied financial strategy, wealth structuring, behavioral psychology, and the tools the wealthy were using to protect and grow their capital. I immersed myself in the business world—not just from the outside, but from the inside. And then I started helping others do the same.
Fast forward to today, I advise clients who earn seven and eight figures annually. I help them legally reduce their taxes, grow their wealth, and build legacy structures for their families and businesses. I’ve built OTAON Holdings into a platform that not only educates and empowers but transforms lives—from Beverly Hills boardrooms to independent creatives chasing their first big win.
Resilience, to me, isn’t about never falling. It’s about refusing to stay down. It’s about using every setback as raw material for a stronger comeback. That’s the heart of what we do at OTAON: we don’t just chase success—we build it, even when the odds are against us.
So when people ask why I’m so passionate about helping others protect and grow their wealth, it’s because I’ve been on the other side—and I fought like hell to get here.

What’s been the most effective strategy for growing your clientele?
The most effective strategy I’ve used to grow my clientele is a combination of personal branding, value-driven content, and relationship marketing.
In a space where everyone’s shouting about what they offer, I focused on becoming the signal instead of the noise. That meant positioning myself as an educator and problem-solver before anything else. Here’s how I’ve marketed myself and OTAON to attract high-level, highly qualified clients:
1. Value-Based Content Marketing
I consistently share insights, breakdowns, and real examples of how we’ve saved clients six figures in taxes or helped them structure their businesses for long-term wealth. Whether it’s a case study, a short LinkedIn post, or a client story, I make sure the content speaks directly to the pain points my ideal clients are feeling. I’m not just giving advice — I’m showing the blueprint.
2. Leveraging Personal Brand Authority
I made a conscious effort to be seen. Whether through podcast appearances, hosting private financial roundtables, or publishing thought leadership content, I built a presence that positioned me as a trusted expert — not just a service provider. People don’t want to be sold to; they want to follow someone who knows what they’re talking about and who they can relate to.
3. Warm Referrals + Inner Circle Strategy
I treat every client relationship like it’s the beginning of a ripple effect. When I deliver results, I intentionally ask my clients, “Who else in your circle needs this kind of clarity?” I’ve built an organic referral engine by staying close to my best clients and treating their networks with the same care and respect.
4. Strategic Collaborations and Centers of Influence
I partner with CPAs, attorneys, and capital advisors who already have the trust of the clientele I want to serve. We co-create content, co-host events, and support each other’s brands — creating a win-win where I become the go-to strategist in their ecosystem.
5. Clarity in My Niche and Messaging
I’m not trying to serve everyone. I’m laser-focused on high-income earners — business owners, doctors, real estate investors, and creatives. My messaging speaks directly to their world, their pain points, and their aspirations. That clarity makes my marketing magnetic.
At the core of it all, my marketing strategy is about this: clarity, credibility, and consistency. I show up with substance, speak to real problems, and let results do the heavy lifting. That’s how I’ve built a pipeline of clients who not only want to work with me — they refer others because they trust the brand behind the results.
