Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Jamaine Oubre. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Alright, Jamaine thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Did you always know you wanted to pursue a creative or artistic career? When did you first know?
My first time I was 8 years old growing up I consistently watched americas next top model with my mom I gained a love and passion for modeling from that day forward I always said I wanted to be a model or a dancer to my mom both were my two talents I embraced! I started by just taking pictures on my phone getting familiar with a camera at a young age and learning expressions emotions and angels movement I took notes from americas next top model and applied to my everyday life I was grateful to have a mother and grandmother who notice my passion for taking pictures which eventually grew into a passion for fashion now modeling and fashion are my top 2 I’m great with putting things together making it look great have a great sense of style I still have that family support and since then I have invested in my career of modeling and fashion using my social media platform to be a example and also inspire others to be as unapologetic with their clothes as I am.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
I am Jamaine Oubre born and raised in Hahnville LA, at young age I knew I would be into fashion, modeling, and dance! I began modeling at a young age about 10 years old always danced to any type of music that’s something that brings me joy growing up in the country sometimes u had to live in this fantasy to escape the trauma u endure through that type of environment it wasn’t all bad but it certainly wasn’t all good… I gained wisdom and maturity with quickness by 16 I had then relocated to the city of New Orleans and starting living a completely different life that’s when I had my very 1st photo shoot and I learned a lot about face expressions emotions being able to switch your moods only using your face was not a easy task it takes a lot of practice my photographer who didn’t feel I had it down path made me run suicides to get emotion and expression out of me which was a great tactic also draining at the same time honestly. It was just apart of the learning process. As I got older I continued to freelance model and work on my craft before diving into the actual model world. When I relocated to Atlanta I again jumped into modeling and this time acting as well I worked with a agency named “ABOUT FACES” they were a agency and also a school I also worked with 9Nine agency I really didn’t do much work with them they seem more about the money then my talent at about faces I took professional head shots built a professional portfolio was able to attend professional gigs and also work on my craft at the same time. Completed some runway courses at John Casablanca as well. When it came to acting it was a lot of extra and stand in work it was great for learning the language on set seeing how these movies and tv shows are created and made literally some of the best work I’ve experienced! I’m real big on fashion now I’m open to styling kids men and woman it’s a eye I have I do personal shopping for customers and big on thrifting love taking things and making them look completely different when styled ! One thing about modeling and acting if u don’t have patience and u are not a good listener can’t follow directions that is not the career route for you it’s mandatory because u are there to do a job and there is a Vision u are being used for to create u are the product and u must deliver exactly what is expected of you ! So discipline is extremely important! As of now I’m 29 years old I’ll be 30 Jan 6 big Capricorn so I’m very business oriented all about my money and take my clients and customers very serious I’m into closet organizing so if u ever need your closet redone or just want to walk in it and have clear direction of where to grab from I’m ya guy ! If u need a personal shopper on a budget not on a budget I’m ya guy your style your vision I will bring it to life 100% what I think sets me apart from others is im genuine in everything I do every move I make yes it’s a business but the opinion of my clients MATTER I wanna always make sure a client is returning That’s always the goal I strive for greatness in all work I do working on a online store and taking my time because everything has to be RIGHT ! The store is PAPOSE KLOSET where I will be reselling my old clothes and also have a line of merchandise that I will be purchasing through different vendors so STAY TUNED 🫶🏾 Im also working on a PODCAST going by the name PAPOSE’S OPINION where it’s a platform for everyone to have a voice ! I will be bringing special guest talking about different topics getting different views on different issues so STAY TUNED something im most proud of is actually diving into a industry I had no idea about a succeeding at the work I did do im very and forever grateful for the amazing people I met and the opportunities that were given to me some where turned down some weren’t and im forever proud of that without a agency behind me 100%

How can we best help foster a strong, supportive environment for artists and creatives?
I think what can be done to make things better for creators and artists is having genuine support people around who actually care about your craft and see your vision a lot of us fail because the people around us we want that from them but they don’t see what we see also having counselors therapy is real it’s needed in these type of environments on set on a podcast at a fashion show mentally it can take a toll on you if you let we understand everyone wants to make money but sometimes if u are only in it for the money there’s no love and passion for the craft in reality so be with people who feel how u feel work with people who see and feel what u see and feel

What do you find most rewarding about being a creative?
For me the most rewarding aspect is being able to INSPIRE people and make people feel good about themselves I like to always give hope and throw out positive energy and support so that’s what I enjoy most and that’s the reward for me honestly
