We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Jally Gross a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.

My name is Jally Gross. I am the person behind Wood and Blooms LLC. I always had the passion for crafting since I was little. Moving to the States opened up an opportunity for me to pursue what my heart desires. I was all over the place in the world of crafting trying to find my niche. In 2018, while making and selling wooden signs I discovered the world of Sola Wood Flowers. These are handcrafted flowers from wood shavings. And because these flowers are made from wood, they will literally last forever. I thought it would be cool to create something unique. I started adding the flowers to my wooden signs. Not long after, I had a bride reached out to me and asked if I could make her bouquet. I didn’t know a thing about flower arranging at the time but I dipped both feet anyway. I did a lot of research, I read about other wood flower florist’s experiences and experimented on my own. Years of trial and error, hard work and dedication brought me here today. I don’t stop learning and experimenting while focusing on my goal-to provide a masterpiece that will be treasured for generations and the sola wood flowers makes that goal all possible. I always strive for quality and I think the thing that sets me apart from other wood flower florists is that I don’t follow trends. I have my own style and I make each of my pieces one-of-a-kind. I always strive for the best and I don’t stop until I’m proud.

Any stories or insights that might help us understand how you’ve built such a strong reputation?

I think offering unique and quality products and a good customer service helps in building a good reputation. I also believe that connecting with my customers and being transparent builds their trust in my products and business.

We’d love to hear the story of how you turned a side-hustle into a something much bigger.

Yes. I started crafting as a hobby 8 years ago while being a stay at home mom. When my etsy shop started booming in 2019 that’s when I decided to turn into a full time home-based business also while raising our 3 kids. I join craft and vendor shows when I can. I also sell my products in a couple boutique stores in my local area and wholesale to a couple other vendors. It’s a trial and error for me. I take the risks to see what works and what doesn’t. I am still a very small business. But I am pretty happy to keep a few loyal customers that helps keep my business afloat. Do I consider my business successful? Financially, I’m not stable yet. But I think I am successful in making unique and quality products that I can be proud of. Success doesn’t happen overnight. It takes hard work, perseverance and self-confidence. If you can dream it, you can achieve it. You just gotta believe in yourself.
